In short: Mud Flume Delight
In full: One of the hardest races I've ever done, easily compares with some of the coastal trail races. Organisation was superb, apart from the 'accidental' mixed changing rooms at the beginning! The marshals were so friendly (aren't they always? What a rare breed), and really encouraging. The course was unrelenting, incredibly muddy, lung-bustingly hilly in places, and a load of fun to run. There was mud. And mud. And then more mud. Bottle of Stella at the end, nice medal, decent tee shirt. Oh, one nice touch was runner name on the race number so marshals could shout your name encouragingly. And hot showers at the end! Really couldn't fault this race. But .... don't attempt it as your first. Brilliant. Hopefully it'll be even muddier next year!

In short: What fun, a little muddy in places.
In full: Lovely conditions, at times but a little soft underfoot.
Seriously....
probably the hardest race I have ever done.

In short: Lung busting trail race.
In full: Don't think about your time for this race, leave your watch at home. Just enjoy the race and admire the scenery if you can! Please don't attempt this race wearing road shoes (I couldn't believe how many people were not wearing trail shoes), it was hard enough trying to stay upright in trail shoes. The runners who chose to wear road shoes were slipping and sliding all over the place. The route was quite muddy last year, so you can imagine what it was like this year! A well oganised and friendly race. Great idea having your name on your race No. (Adds that personal touch - especially when the marshalls voice their encouragement to you). The marshalls were superb and there were ample water/sweet stations througout the route. Looking forward to hurting again next year.

In short: Absolutely Fantastic
In full: Makes you want to run off road all the time, tons of mud, water, hills, and a bit of sunshine, perfect. 10/10 again. Well done to all, thanks to marshalls, drinks/food stationers and organisers.

In short: Not for the feint hearted but tremendous fun, great atmosphere
In full: This was my second year, it was far wetter and far muddier but in a perverse way made it more enjoyable, I will be back next year for some more torture!!

In short: Wonderful race - hard on the legs but great on the eyes!
In full: Slightly intimidating course profile but the wonderful marshals (including Jester, Corgi woman and general wonderful people) helped push my up the hills and down again. Big tick in the box from me :)

In short: Be hard to find many races more challenging in the southern shires. Great course, great run, the worse the weather the more fun it is!
In full: As above plus, the 300m flume tank proved interesting. The Kelston Jesper was epic - well done! Qualifications to the above categories : Value : at face value expensive but as it is linked to a local charity - fabulous. Beginner friendly : I would say 'No' but not account of the race being 'elitist' rather a first timer might wonder what had hit them! Well done to all the marshals and organisers.
