In short: Race of the year In full: Didn't manage to nail this race, but for atmosphere and organisation it is the best races I have ever done outside of a big city marathon.
Will be back again and again. As long as I can lace my own trainers I will enter this race.
Superb marshalls as well. Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: As good as I'd hoped for In full: Being a local runner I'd somehow missed this run up to now. However, I was determined to do it this year such that even the never ending winter cold did not stop me...and so glad it didn't. The scenery is not great but the actual route has enough to keep you interested. The Name, rather than number, on your chest is a great touch and really helps with the encouragement...the marshalls do not need much to make them provide comforting words. The t shirt was good for winter running and organisation overall superb. Well done Stockport. Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: Always an enjoyable race. I've done it the last three years and loved it every time, definitely one of my favourite races of the year. Great atmosphere, friendly stewards, challenging course, and always some interesting stuff in the goodie bag! Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: A great race with a challenging route and terrific organisation In full: Got to be one of the top races of the year. While the short, scenic rural section is sandwiched between two longer sections of housing estates, you do get to start and finish in 'world-famous Woodbank Stadium'. Great marshals and a terrific commentator in Tony Audenshaw and the most unique start to any race I've seen - a firework lit at the end of a lap with the Olympic torch to the Chariots of Fire theme. Great value and atmosphere. Not a PB for me, but my best time on this route. Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: Excellent Race - as ever In full: Fab race - great organisation; superb marshals; a couple of challenging hills. Even saw some sun this time (well, a little bit). All done with a quirky sense of humour and great enthusiasm. Will be back, even though I was a couple of minutes slower than last year (coming back from injury). Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: Come on Tony lad! In full: The only thing that puzzles me is where were the 250 people that entered and didn't turn up. They missed a real treat. Best race in the world. Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: Fabulous race - can't think of anything to not like! In full: Well organised race. The hill at 5.5 miles was a bit sneaky - we knew it was coming but there was a flat bit in the middle that fooled you into thinking that you'd conquered it...and then it slapped you with an even steeper bit! The so called hill at 8 miles is not as daunting - more like running up someone's driveway (albeit a half mile long driveway!) but caught out a few unsuspecting first timers.
Long sleeved tech shirt was a nice touch (given the time of year; shows that somebody put some thought into this!) and there's not much you can say about the goody bag - you probably wouldn't believe what was in it anyway! (Worms? See, I said you wouldn't believe it!) For anyone who did pick one up and is still confused - read the comic!
Bit of a hiccup with the wrong times being sent via text message - which was a shame as I got mine less than 5 minutes after crossing the line! The 'official' times were up on the website in the afternoon - something even the biggest events don't always manage!
All-in-all, a great event and one that's already in next year's diary. Date of review: December 10, 2012
