In short: Fantastic morning of pain! In full: It was a great way of shaking the Christmas festivities off. It was without exception the muddiest and water soaked runs I have ever completed but somehow that added to it ;-). There are only a couple of areas of road to run on and the majority of the run was in a field or tree covered areas. The last few miles were tough as my thighs where on fire ;-) so make sure you save a little for the end. It is a run I will do again as the organisers are a friendly bunch and I did have my fair share of Mulled Wine at the end. Great event a yafta do it! Date of review: January 1, 2013
In short: Seriously muddy and seriously good. In full: I loved this. I loved the special 4x4 parking area, easy number pick up and chip timing. I loved the medal and the mulled wine! The wet weather in the build up made some of the going fairly extreme, and the last mile or two were brutal, but it was a brilliant course, especially running around the Roman walls. I'll be back next year. Date of review: December 31, 2012
In short: Enjoyable outing In full: Great atmosphere, great marshalls, course was challenging enough for me, glad we did the 10 km rather than the 10 miler. already planning doing it next year Date of review: December 31, 2012
In short: Mud, hills, more mud, more Hills! In full: A great multi terrain course. Lots of hills. Plenty of mud, too much at times (the recent weather made it alot worse). Friendly atmosphere and fantastic medals. Very well organised. Date of review: December 31, 2012
In short: Muddy! In full: My first Gutbuster and a fantastic race! About two thirds was off road and I haven't seen so much mud! It was incredibly tough going but the mince pies and mulled wine at the end dragged me over the line.
Would thoroughly recommend and will be there next year to burn off those Christmas pounds! Date of review: December 31, 2012
In short: A race full of character. In full: After the 6am alarm went off and I checked the weather I very nearly went back to bed. I am very glad I didn't. From parking next to combine harvesters to the jolly little intro speech to the friendly marshals to the beautiful but testing course and the cracking medal and mince pies to finish this is a brilliantly unique race. I had an absolutely fantastic time despite my legs feeling like lead on the last two miles. I think I'll have to apply very early to get in next year. Well done to all involved.
