In short: Lovely place, lovely people In full: I have nothing but positive things to say! It was my first real run and the support I received was awesome; strangers who ran pasts were giving advice and encouragement. It gave me the opportunity to raise money for my charity and I will definitely be back next year! Date of review: May 15, 2012
In short: Picturesque 10k, very well organised In full: Really enjoyed this 10k, great location for race.
Pros: -well organised, entry packs had all the race info you needed (plus some more), plenty of marshals -scenic, started and finished at the Lady Lever art gallery. The graded buildings were a welcome distraction! -plenty of water available, particularly important as the conditions were quite warm -great support. Especially appreciated having my name called out on the mega phone at the 5k mark. Made me smile -Location very easy to get to by car and public transport -I managed to run a PB!
Cons: -The start was crowded. The first part of the race made it quite difficult to over-take -Expected a couple more freebies considering the entry fee, but maybe this is me being a cheapskate!
In conclusion, definitely worth trying and if it becomes an annual event, I hope to make it a permanent racing fixture. Date of review: May 15, 2012
In short: highly recommendable In full: Overall I thought the race was organised with pinpoint precision, beforehand and during; the map and information pack sent in the pack was very informative.
A suggestion for future reference would be to have a facility for entry on the day.
The location of the race speaks for itself, a historic and iconic part of the wirral providing an ideal place for runners and for the race setting, and visitors such as the spectators, organisers, entertainment and alike. This, coupled with the weather conditions, made for a very memorable day. The drummers at the memorial, and the music near the start/finish added a very good touch, one which clearly set this local race apart from many others.
The route, although not the country's fastest of courses (in my opinion, and of course a non important factor for most) due to the inclines and a few tight turns, was fairly straight forward to negotiate, and the lead bikes performed their duty impeccably as expected.
To conclude, I can say with honesty that I would like to run this course again next year, if only for the setting and the general atmosphere. I don't see any reason why this shouldn't become a successful annual event in the future. Date of review: May 15, 2012
