In short: Fantastic all round event. In full: Mostly flat race with a gentle gradient at the end back into the city. Very well organised. Good support around the route. Will be a race I will come back too year on year. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Other bigger event organisers should come and see what these people do, Terrific In full: Had a brilliant week end. Warm going but really enjoyed the run. The welcome back into Chester was amazing, I wanted to do the last mile again, Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Brilliantly organised event. In full: As ever a very well organised event with plenty of loos at the start and plenty of water on the course. Nice finish in Chester city centre and a great goodie bag/medal/tshirt. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: fantastic race and organisation In full: The organisation of this race is second to none. Everything a runner could wish for with lovely little extra touches, especially the music on route this year.
Like most I really struggled in the heat after 8 miles but the support of the crowd got me going again. Huge to thanks to the organisers the Marshalls and volunteers at the copious much needed water stations, the first aiders and all the people who turned out to support us. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: A pleasure to run In full: This reminds me of Southport's MadDog 10k in it's thoughtful organisation. Everything a runner could need is here from the army of toilets, the great venue, brilliant marshalls, excellent tee shirt, medal and goody bag, well stocked, well manned water stations and added bonus of music en route this year. Lesson learnt though not to start off too fast in such hot weather as I faded sadly in the last four miles and time wasn't great. An unmissable race though for me and grateful thanks to all involved. The support along the course was amazing! Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Outstanding organisation, excellent support, lovely course - killer hill at the end! In full: Magnificent pre race and race day organisation made this a pleasure to anticipate and if the weather hadn't been so hideously hot it would have been an entirely fabulous experience.
As it was, the support, the generous water stations and the amazing marshalls and volunteers more than made up for the blood, sweat and tears.
After that killing final hill, the last 200 yards on the flat into the city centre, past the cheering crowds and across the finish line were brilliant.
The online tracking and the live streaming of the finish line were also an excellent idea.
Well done Chris and Andy - we'll definitely be back next year. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Extremely well organised just a shame about hill at the end In full: Chester half marathon is as well organised as the full marathon - absolutely excellent. The scenery is lovely and there was good support along the way. Very good positioning of water stations. I didnt get a PB but I think that was mainly due to the really hot weather and wind and the hills at the end killed me off! Still it was a really lovely atmosphere and I woudl recommend to other people. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Flat, fast course, and some great support In full: A brilliantly organised event, with fantastic support. The race start at the Racecourse is great as every one can chill-out of the grass beforehand (perfect in the beautiful sunshine this year).
Course is nice and flat for the most part, although finishes with a bit of a killer hill, and very much PB friendly - I knocked 4 mins off Conwy Half, despite the extreme heat.
Overall a brilliant race, good goody bag at the end too, with tech t-shirt. Also recommend a trip down to the riverfront afterwards for your post-race beer! Date of review: May 19, 2014
