In short: Everyone should run Ealing Half - great race!! In full: The inaugral race in 2012 was fantastic - unbelivably this year was even better! Faultless organisation, a great course on closed London roads and through local parks, brilliant marshalling and plentiful water stations. Local residents really enter into the spirit of the whole event and create a party atmosphere all the way around. I'll definitely be back in 2014! Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Magnificently-supported race, really friendly crowds! In full: My first half, so I didn't really know what to expect., but thoroughly enjoyed it, very friendly party atmosphere amongst the spectators. Could have done without cookers falling on the runners in one of the streets, but that's hardly the fault of the organisers. Was astounded at the sheer waste of water, and volume of rubbish produced, though, virtually full bottles being discarded at all the water stations. Results up quickly (still waiting for the "via email" goody bag, though), and nice medal. Would happily do this again. Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: hilly is the word In full: This is a hilly course. There was some word somewhere that rated this undulated but it is not. There are 4 significant hills and a few long inclines that you feel afterwards. That saying this was a magnificent race and was well laid out and planed. The marshals were fantastic and the locals showed up to cheer us on. I had already decided not to race this and just enjoy going round. I'm glad I did because it was a really good day with a great party atmosphere. There was a pre-race warm up for those who like that thing and the bag tent was well organised. Post-race was good with a nice bottle of water and medal(sadly no t-shirt). Getting to and from the race to local stations is easy though I understand parking is an issue. Would do it again Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Brilliant In full: Great atmosphere and community spirit. Easy transport links so hassle free for non locals attending event. Lots of locals out on the course cheering us on and friendly marshalls. Well organised. Only minor criticism might have been the water stations seemed wasteful as bottles were given out rather than cups Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Great event on a challenging course In full: Great event even considering this was only the second year. I can see it getting bigger and bigger.
The support around the course was great which really helped, but I found going up and down the hills quite tough. None of them on their own were significant, but they took their toll after a while. Definitely a course where you want to start conservatively - the first 3 miles are net up hill 112 feet - but the gentle down-hill in the last 3 miles was most welcome.
My only slight criticism was the amount of water handed out at each water station. The bottles were huge so large amounts of water were thrown away, which seemed like a large waste.
Was also a great addition having pacers there! Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: It only gets better! In full: A great second year for EHM with a slightly different route. A fun, excellently organised race with something for everyone. The support on the route from residents and marshals was fantastic and a lovely buzz and vibrant atmosphere in the race village! Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: Fantastic atmosphere, some hills to make it challenging, extremely fun day! In full: This was my first half-marathon and I found the hills challenging, but I made it around! All the organisers and event staff were helpful and friendly and second to none! There was a warm community atmosphere to the whole day and a lot of support on the streets of Ealing! :) Date of review: September 30, 2013
