In short: A brilliant but hard race. I will be back next year.
In full: This was the 25th anniversary of the Grizzly and the sun came out in celebration. It is a hard course with many hills, beach, and the notorious bog, but has an atmosphere like no other event. It is run through some spectacular scenary too.

In short: One of my favourite off road races!
In full: If you you want variety in a race, the Grizzly has all of it! so boredom does not come into it.
The most stunning scenery! there are plenty of hills, fields, some mud, water,a bog and just when your legs are crying out for mercy your saved by a shingle beach to run on.( well, it gives one set of muscles a short rest while another gets pounded.lol).
Such a well organised race.
Do not be affraid to commit and buy your next entry as you can pass onto someone else if you cant do it. I think thats the only race you can do that. Just need fill form.
Marshals, spectators and ambulance all inspire you to keep moving with a smile on your face.
I love this race but i have only ever done it when weathers nice. Ive heard its quite horrendous when wet.
Personal best? who cares! most do it for the experiance and the race changes course each year and so does the weather.

In short: Awesome!
In full: Brilliant race, pebble beach running, hill running, bog running. Everything you would expect from an off road race. Fantastic marshals, beautiful scenery & a great T-shirt - all in all a tremendous race.

In short: Without doubt the best race in the UK!
In full: Where to start? This is without doubt the best race in the whole UK! The race has been going on for a fair few years now and you have about 24hours to enter before it fills-this is an indication of how successful it is. The organisation is superb before, during and after the event. The course is hard as nails-don't expect a pb, it's meaningless anyway. Shingle beaches, knee deep streams and bogs await in the 20ish miles of never flat (except at the start and finish) constantly hilly (I love/hate the 'stairway to heaven at about 18 miles) and almost totally off road. Being in a tourist area there are plenty of points around the course with huge spectator support. Loads of marshals were hugely supportive and judging by the amount of jelly babies being handed out there's now none left in the area! Once across the finish line brilliant services tend to all your needs including a wash down (very cold hose) by Seaton firemen. There's even a free beer if you are fast enough!
I can't wait to come back next year!

In short: If I could only do one race per year, this would be it.
In full: An extraordinary race, but its more than just a race, its an institution, a happening, a must-do experience. This year's course was hard, as usual, and there were some interesting new twists and turns. The bog was deep and glutionous, but a bit less of it than in some previous years, but new mind, there were hills and views enough, and the usual amazing atmosphere from cheerful marshals and fellow runners. The only damper on it for me was than my wife came down with a tummy bug the day before and had to miss it. She was gutted, in more than the usual sense, especially when I came home with a gorgeous blue technical T-shirt. I would do this race if the entry fee was many times the price, but the organisers are not greedy, its an event for runners, by runners, long may it continue.
