In short: Always well organised.great flat race In full: Weather horrendous this year, but this did no detract from a very good race. Thank you to the organisers and marshals Date of review: May 3, 2015
In short: Highly recommendable. Finishing to uplifting applause in the football stadium, this is probably one of my favourite local races for that 'crossing the line' feeling! In full: This is the 2nd time I've run the Scunthorpe Half and, just like last time, I found it most enjoyable.
It was pretty well laid out and fairly straight forward to find the race HQ- perhaps signage could be improved a little.
The race marshals did a superb job- great organisation, great communication all the way up to race morning and appropriate health and safety considerations were evident.
The course itself spans mainly countryside type roads until the end where you head towards Glanfield Stadium, finishing the final few hundred yards inside with a very welcoming cheer from spectators and race marshals. Aside from a bridge in the final half mile, the course is flat, offering pretty good PB potential.
This year, finishers received a high quality medal and t shirt, along with the all important post race necessities (freshly baked muffins, Galaxy bars etc); a strong selling point, of course!
If you're looking to improve on your PB or simply to get some more race experience, this one should not be overlooked. Date of review: May 3, 2015
In short: Awful weather but fab race! In full: My third time running this half and it gets better year after year. Cannot fault the organisation of this race; regular email and Facebook updates to keep you informed! Rain was miserable but nothing we could've done about this so just got on with it! Great goody bag; tech tshirt, cake, crisps, chocolate and sweets! I will be back next year! Date of review: May 3, 2015
