In short: Good setting, excellent marshalling and friendly people lining the route. Was cold but well worth it. Nice flat course. We even got decent weather this year too (friends in high places?)

In short: Fantastic January Half ...
In full: Very glad I got into this event this year - but you do have to be quick off the mark to get your entry in for this popular Half. Hugely enjoyable (even when struggling with post Christmas excesses!) and being almost pancake flat along country lanes, has PB potential in spades. My thanks to the wonderfully encouraging marshalls and to the excellent organisation from start to finish. Liked the great quality runner's rucksack too ... will appreciate that during my marathon training!

Hope I'm lucky enough to get in next year!

In short: Great race if you can get in! Venue, organisation and atmosphere all top notch.
In full: Second time of running this, missed out last year due to the postal strike - hand delivered my entry to make sure I got in this year! Great course and the marshalls are fantastic all round the course. I'd recomend this race to anyone. Liked the rucksack at the end as well, makes a change to the usual tshirts!

In short: My first Brass Monkey, but hopefully not my last!
In full: Excellent organisation. The timing chips were handed out very quickly (I did need help to fasten it on to my laces however as I had never seen one like that before!). The rucksack that was given out as a souvenir of the race was great. Good flat course and friendly marshalls. The only thing I would have changed was to have bottles of water instead of plastic cups as I still haven't got the hang of that and a shower outside in the winter is not the most comfortable thing!

In short: superb, friendly organisation, excellent start and finish facilites, enthusiastic marsahlls make this a great race
In full: If Carling did HM's than all races would be like this!!!
Even the weather was near perfect after an appalling week.
Chip timing greatly helped in producing speedy and accurate results but a minor quibble - why not use the chip times for placings, say after the first 50, and this would remove much of the pressure on the rather congested start?
Cannot praise this race too highly - only trouble is the restrictions on the size of the field means that many cannot get in to experience it but if the field got too big it may lose some of its attraction!!
