In short: an exhilarating run In full: A brilliant setting for a half-marathon. However Eyam is a small village and parking can be quite tight.
Quite a challenging event. I felt a sense of achievement on finishing this. Heavy rain up on the hills. I was like a drowned rat by the time I finished (very appropriate for Eyam).
A very steep hill at 9 miles. At that stage I found it was more efficient to walk up it than try to run. If I do this again, I'm going to put in a lot more hill work in the gym. Date of review: May 19, 2009
In short: Can't imagine a more beautiful race and downhills to match the uphills In full: Was tough but the scenery made it well worth while - think bluebell filled woods and rolling green hills - so well worth taking a good look around you on route and taking your mind off aches and pains! In short: This is the first time I've done this one, beautiful scenary, brilliant reception, everyone so welcomeing without being overbearing. One for next year now I know what its like to run up a hill!... Date of review: May 18, 2009
In short: Respect This Race In full: Yes you have to Respect this race, the description of this race as being Hilly is an understatement. There are 2 monster climbs in this race, one at 1 mile and the other at 9 miles, these are nothing that you can imagine or describe until you have done this race....I thourghly enjoyed it. Fantastic organisation and encouragement by the marshals and spectators and the scenary is to die for, beautiful. But a big warning....if you dont like hills this is one race you want to avaoid. Unfortunatley I luv 'em so I'll be back next year :) Date of review: May 18, 2009
In short: Superb scenery and a great challenging course In full: The organisation was faultless. Everyone was friendly, a great credit to the village of Eyam. 1st time at this event and despite the hills and getting absolutely soaked at the end, just might do it again. Date of review: May 18, 2009
In short: Checked the site for next years entry already. What does that tell you In full: Quite simply breathtaking scenery. Eyam village did themselves proud and i shall definatly be visiting there again soon. Very very welcoming. The Miners Arms serves great beer. Marshals at the start directing the cars for parking little stars, fully understood i needed somewhere to unload a pram and car full of children and directed me to a perfect spot. Oh yeah i PB'd too strangely :-) Date of review: May 17, 2009
In short: very tough In full: second time at this race still as tough as ever but I will be back next year I also run not just for a time finish but to have fun and to keep fit it is the taking part that counts Date of review: May 17, 2009
