In short: A great event
In full: This is an event rather than a race. If you want a PB for a half marathon this is not the event for you. This is about 40,000+ runners getting together and having a good crack. There is always someone to remind you how great this weekend is and why sometimes we put on running shoes. This is a charity event and should be treated as such, the downside for me the Expo isn't as good as it once was but moving it back to the arena will hopefully see it improve again

In short: A Great Charity event
In full: but lost the fact it's a race as well. Pen allocation is very poor, so if your a serious/ish runner, you spend the whole race dodging people.
Atmosphere is good with the plenty out to support the event.
South Shields is a nightmare to get out of. Not the best Great Run event, Manchester 10k far better.

In short: Understands why the race starts with the word "GREAT"
In full: First & hopefully not my last GNR...what a great event. Organisation & the atmosphere was fantastic & what about the crowds...many, many thanks for your support around the course. Some could complain about the numbers but all I say is that you can`t have a party without them. Keep up the great work & see you very very soon.

In short: Magnificent
In full: Absolutely over the moon with this one as it gave me a PB. The level of organisation is breathtaking, and a special mention to those helping out - particularly after the finish line - who were very good at shepherding dazed souls around! The friendly crowds are what make this event and the last mile is my favourite running experience.

In short: What a fantastic day - definately be back next year
In full: This was my first Great North Run and i would recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and you'll never be short of encouragement, both from spectators and other runners. The boost you get at the finish from the crowd is second to none. This was intended as part of my build up to the London marathon, which now has a hard act to follow!! I will, without a shadow of a doubt, be back next year, hopefully dragging a few more people along with me!

In short: Best race of the year...........
In full: Ran this race for the third year running, and got a PB. This is mainly due to the placement in the "B" zone near the front, so I got a better start.

Regardless of the PB potential, this is one race that every runner should do at least once.
