In short: Great Fun In full: I was a bit wary about doing this 10km just because I thought 10,000 plus runners in Hyde Park could be messy. But it was superbly organised and arguably the most enjoyable run I've ever done. It's a great location, the organisation was spot on and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. In short: Good race but dull In full: Excellent organisation at this one. Wave start was done very well, maybe the groupings weren't quite right? (There were some orange and green bibs in with the white ones.) Finishing bag had a nice medal and chip times were posted very fast! Only down side is that the atmosphere around the course was boring. Saying that, the Indian drummers were good though. Date of review: July 21, 2008
In short: Decent course, decent t-shirt, decent time. In full: Pretty well organised and a good course for beginners with a good chance of a pb if you start in the first wave. Date of review: July 21, 2008
In short: Parklife In full: I really enjoyed this. Yes, there are always a few niggles, but for a mass participation race I think the organisers did a damn good job. Chip timing and wave starts is great for a race this size. Date of review: July 21, 2008
In short: Pleasant run on a sunny Sunday In full: This race just needs a few tweaks to make it perfect.
More loos for a start - I always head straight for the loo queue anyway but it took a long time to actually get into one, think I was waiting for about 20 minutes!
Secondly I agree with the peson who said the water stations were too close together. The first one needs to be at about 4k - in fact pretty much directly opposite where the 8k one was on the other side of the road.
Thirdly, my legs had had just about had enough at the end of the race so I wasn't capable of a sprint finish but the course was too congested for one anyway, what on earth were the spectators doing lining the road on the right hand side???
So all in all, pretty good organisation but not quite perfect - you can do it guys, I'll be back next year to check :-) Date of review: July 21, 2008
