In short: A nice day out
In full: Shame about the toilets and the PA system and the lack of goody bags and the lack of showers (one ladies shower does not enough showers make!!) and the poor signage around the school. But the second lap of the run was great and I beat the hills (very pleased with that after 12 years of being rubbish at them, clearly having another baby did me good!) and the swim afterwards with the family was excellent. So... do it again? Probably not one of those must do races but maybe, if we're not on holiday and I've got nothing better lined up...

In short: Enjoyable and challenging
In full: Third year in a row for me. A very enjoyable race with supportive marshalls. It was a bit cooler today than in previous years so I managed to run a better time. Yes there is a long walk from the car park, but that is made clear by the organisers in the race pack. I'm pretty sure I'll be back next year and will bring the family as the pool and playground are open for families to use.

In short: Wasn't well run, by either me or the organisers.
In full: Pros
Hard course
Water stations
Small Mars Bar, Medal and a bottle of water

Cons
15 minute delayed start, announced on a tinny little megaphone to about 10% of runners
Not many toilets
Bloody long walk from car park
Not much signage around the site

Much to work on. May be back but there's a hell of a lot of better organised races.

In short: A pleasant run though ancient woodland
In full: This 2-lap chip to chip timed race is on closed roads and paths through beautiful ancient woodland, providing shelter from sun or rain - but there are some playful hills.
The event uses the facilities of a private school (allow 20 minutes walk from the car park) to provide changing rooms and bag storage - and you can take a dip in their open air pool afterwards if you wish.
By the time I finished the goody bags were gone, but there was still a mars bar, some water and a better than average medal. The morning was well organised and the marshalls were very supportive. Thank you Burnham Joggers.

In short: Special. Lovely day out for a trundle on the roads through the trees
In full: Thanks Burnham Joggers and all the very encouraging marshalls. A fair few locals sprinkled around as well cheering the runners on. Very well placed water stations, just as I needed them they appeared! And so thoughtful to save the hills for the end of each lap ;-) Don't worry about the Loo issue, it was out of your control at that point. Good Medal, all I need as a momento. Having the results up so quickly as well, good marks.

All in all a very good day, again my thanks for staging this race.

In short: A well-organised, virtually traffic-free, scenic race.
In full: My ageing limbs hate that short steep grassy slope near the start and finish. But the rest of the race is scenic and shady with a few undulations. The road hills weren't as bad as I remembered. Thank you Burnham Joggers.

In short: Well run, goody bag a bit disappointing, long walk to start
In full: My only real gripe was the long walk to the start, and then pick up number...so left quite early to get there in good time. Otherwise fine.

In short: Lovely location and good race
In full: There are not many half marathons in August. The idea of racing in the blazing sun is not what most want. This race though is in a beautiful wood, along traffic read tarmac roads that are shaded by trees.

The course does have a few hills and is a 2 laps. The start and finish are in the ground of a public school. The scenery is all lovely.

The marshals do a wonderful job, 2 water station each lap, lots of vocal support from the marshals. There are not many other people about apart from the start/finish area.

This year there was a problem with the portaloos - there weren't any! Hence the queues for the loos in the schools were long. To deal with this the start was delayed by 15 minutes.

Overall, a well run race, friendly marshals and worth doing if looking to race in August.

In short: not much competition for half's at this time of year but none the less this is a solid race that i would continue to put in my schedule
