In short: Enjoyed the race, very friendly, lots for the family to do while waiting
In full: It was tougher than it should have been due to the heat. What hill - that isn't a tough hill, just a slight slope :-)

In short: Water! Water!
In full: This is the second time I've run the Timberhonger 10K, and it was a sweltering day. The race doesn't start until 11am, which means it's already really hot when you're starting off. I really didn't have a good time, as having read that there were two water stations, and in the event of hot weather there would be three, I didn't take my own water. There was only the one water station on the route, which you pass twice on a loop Unfortunately, they had already run out of water when I passed it the second time. The marshalls were, very kindly, passing on their own water to runners - it's not really on that they had to do this though. I'm feeling pretty miserable as I had a very difficult last 5km and ended up with an abysmal time. I'd only run it again if I took my own water with me.

In short: warm and welcoming, but made the eyes water
In full: warm and welcoming family event, lovely little juniors race prior to the main event. registration efficient, organisation spot on, hard course made you snivel a little, but comaraderie exceptional, one major major gripe, sorry, but the water station was absolutely abismal, there was only one water station, which ran out so the stragglers in the pack had to rely on hand outs along the way. thankyou to the little girl who stood with a bucket of water and three sponges for the flagging runners at the end of the pack, otherwise a great day out with a fair for the family at the end of it all.

In short: Tough but special
In full: Incredibly well organised, all the marshalls were very helpful. I was one of the stragglers at the back and was offered water by two marshalls, the very kind lady at the crossover point for the laps and at around 8km. The weather made it hard but there were enough shady spots to offer enough relief. This was my second year and though my time was considerably slower than last year (I blame illness)I still really enjoyed the course and will be back next year. Quality medal at the end was really good, may I suggest a goody bag? To sum up, nice one Bromsgrove keep up the good work and see you again next year.

In short: Hot, hilly and hard!
In full: Second year at this race for me, another really enjoyable run. Quite a challenge in such high temperatures and with 2 water stations fairly close together, but definitely worth the extra effort. That hill near the end...always far worse than i remember it too! Good organisation and helpful marshals added to the enjoyable atmosphere.

In short: 2008 was my first "proper" race - loved it and got the bug. There is a little hill to enjoy...
In full: I'd only done a couple of 3 mile fun runs prior to this and had completed my first 5 mile training run just 3 weeks before. I started running in Jan 2007 as a way of managing my diabetes but am now - thanks largely to Timberhonger - hooked! At the age of 46 and a "newbie" I doubt that I'll ever win anything but I've entered a few races this season and am enjoying being slightly further away from last place each time...
