In short: First marathon and loved the experience.
In full: Would definitely like to do this one again. There was brilliant support. Could have been more toilets but other than that - the day was great.

In short: Really good race best Edinburgh yet!
In full: Hot day but the course is easier than previous years and despite some other comments the organisation was very good compared to previous events and to most events I have competed in elsewhere. Plenty fluids, marshals and signage. Good crowds along the route and very vocal in places. If there is a main sponsor found for next year this race can only grow and grow. Well done Edinburgh!

In short: Only one complaint, some of the mile markers were all over the place. I think it was 6, 7 and 11 miles. Apart from that great race!!

In short: My first one and I enjoyed it all despite the heat
In full: There were so many inaccuracies in the information supplied prior to the race that I was really worried that it would all go wrong but to be fair it was a great day. The heat took its toll on me for the last 6 miles but the crowds on that stretch with the hosepipes kept me going. A big thank you to them and all the marshalls. great job.
At the end I seemed to be tunnelled away to the edge of the park and on my way home before i remembered the tents, massage, charities etc. It was a big park we could of been directed towards them.
All in all a great experience. well worth the flight up and a chance to see a beautiful city.

In short: Fab scenery & very friendly people, hills at end hurt! More toilets please!!
In full: This was my first marathon, the experience was amazing, such encouraging spectators. The course staff were fantastic, so friendly and encouraging. Holyrood Park provided a dramatic visual ending to the challenge, am delighted with 4:43 in that heat!! More toilets would have been handy as queues were big so had to sneak in a cafe at start, and a bush at end! Maybe toilets on course not all at relay crossovers so they're not as congested for marathon runners who would rather not add 10 mins to their time?? Well done brave lady seen 'doing a Paula' on Portabello Beach area!!

In short: Great course – shame about the weather
In full: First marathon was the blistering heat of Blackpool last year. Thought it would be cooler in Scotland this year. Need to think of a new plan for next year. I was worried that such a large number of runners would make the route very congested but actually it was really good – enough people to make it always busy but enough space to run past others or more often than not, to let the others pass me. Thanks to all the enthusiastic marshals and the folks with the hoses and jelly babies. Only real complaint was having to travel to Edinburgh on Saturday to collect race number, especially with all the road works on the Forth bridge.
