In short: Enjoyed it! Great organisation and location In full: Hills weren't as challenging as led to believe (but definitely undulating). Nice route; well marshalled; weather was perfect; Goody bag nice touch. Good support. I agree with the earlier comment about the matting on the grass. I too found it a tad slippery (but obviously there for a reason?) Well done Barns Green Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Very well organised friendly village run. In full: Picked this for my first half after having a baby as it is close to the grandparents! Lovely atmosphere for the race with a lot of support for a rural half. Nice route through some lovely scenery (even on a grey day) and great to have the roads closed. Plenty of helpful and encouraging marshals along the way and on the water stations which is great when you are a slow one out the back! Would recommend this for runners of all abilities - something for everyone. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Flew over from Gibraltar for this race on the suggestion of my Horsham-based brother. Glad I did. Beautiful route, no cars, great atmosphere and perfect temperature. Also beat my brother by 10 minutes. Worth the trip and will return in 2012 Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Excellent event In full: This was my 7th time at Barns Green, and as always it was very well organised and marshalled. A very pretty course, with closed roads, and not too hilly. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Slick organisation, beautiful autumn colours, local favourite In full: Last minute decision to enter as I ran the Greensand Marathon the week before and needed to see how legs were feeling before deciding to run, but entry on the day was quick and efficient. Lovely sociable run with plenty of crowd support, I like the fact that you go through the start/finish at 5 miles so get a huge cheer from the crowd there - pace definitely picked up at that point. Wonderful to see so many enthusiastic children manning the water stations instead of being stuck at home in front of their games consoles, even the rain didn't seem to worry them. Disapointing amount of litter on the route, I don't see why runners can't put their empty gel packets back in the pockets they came out of, or use them at the water stations and discard them in the bins there. Having said that there were a lot of beer cans lining the route that I guess weren't left by the runners! I wasn't very keen on the protective matting on the grassy section coming back into Barns Green after the first loop. I'm not sure if it was there to protect the grass from the runners, or the runners from the muddy grass, but it was very slippery and I would have preferred just running on the grass. Thank you to the organisers for another excellent race. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Lovely village race, with the whole community behind it In full: I read somewhere that Barns Green doubles it's population on race day, and I can well believe it. Quite a crowded start, but then I was just along for the miles, so started near the back. Despite the up and down of the course, it was still quick, and none of the hills were enough to bring you to a stop. Good marshaling, plenty of water, and a nice event village. Great support from the locals who turned out even in the drizzle. I'll be back one day, to try for a silver medal - preferably when I haven't already run a half earlier in the day. In short: A Lovely village race In full: First time for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I hear the word "undulating" it usually means "hilly but we don't want to put you off". Barns Green on the other hand is gently undulating with no big hills to speak of. The organisation was excellent and there was a freindly feel about the place. Top marks. In short: Love it! In full: Got PB despite the hills (they're al in the mind!) so on the look out for a flat race now. Big improvements on last year - apart from the cooling weather. Great organisation and a lovely scenic route. Well done to the organisers and thank you to all the marshals, this is a great race well worth travelling to. One little thing - could you put a few big bins on the route for people's empty gel packets, lucozade bottles, etc. Date of review: October 31, 2011
