In short: A great, quick race. In full: Lots of friendly marshalls where you need them (i.e. crossing some roads), and milling around at the start to answer queries. Plenty of water stations. The route itself though picturesque, has almost no crowd other than when you return into the town centre, so it is quite like a training run, just with several hundred others. As a result lots more people than normal seemed to be wearing earphones. It's been said before many times, but the reward for slogging away for 16 miles is a cup. It doesn't even say whether you did the 8 or 16 mile race, but is better than nothing i suppose. Date of review: October 12, 2008

In short: First timer... In full: Having only started running with my first race being the Windsor Half in Sept I was worried this 8.2 miles would be too fast for me (I'm a 10min mile runner right now!). Was pleasantly surprised..ran solidly the whole distance, not even stopping for a drink. Enjoyed the early start and support from marshalls. Parking was also incredibly easy! With 4 miles being amoungst residential areas I was disappointed at the lack of support from the general public. Also, it didn't so much annoy me with only doing 8.2 but if I had batled through the 16miles and only received a mug I would have been devastated!!! Date of review: October 12, 2008

In short: Good towpath race in the sunshine In full: Fun 2 loop race up and down the Thames between Kingston town centre and Hampton Court. Again, I mucked up the start time and wondered why I ran 7 miles of the second loop without a runner in sight. However, starting 30 mins before everyone else does give you quite an advantage in the overall classification!! Obviously crowding mitigates against one start time so check you're setting off at the right time (even, as here, when there are only two start options). Date of review: October 12, 2008

In short: disappointed... In full: i ran it slow, but was well within the allocated time after the first lap by about 5 minutes (as mentioned on their website/letter) - however, the mile markers were gone on my second lap and direction signs also! And where were the marshalls? Won't be doing this one again...

In short: well organised. beginner friendly 8 mile In full: I am glad I made the effort to go to this race. We made a weekend of it and my partner spent a fortune in the shops! There was a good mix of runners and there was good support at the end for all finishers. I will definitely be back next year. Date of review: October 18, 2007

In short: Not a mug fan either...sorry... In full: I normally like to wear my medal in bed after the big event... not going to happen with a mug! ;o)
However, great scenery, good organization and the fifth time I have done this race. In training for October Dublin marathon so a great last long run for me.

In short: Great day for a great run In full: Good number of runners but not too many so as to make it crowded. The only bad thing is having to get up at 0430 to get there on time, but a small price to pay for a fun event. Date of review: October 17, 2007
