In short: I'd heard alot about this race and it definitely lived up to all the praise! In full: What a day! The marshalls were excellent all the way round. I didn't dare walk past the girls at 24; if they could be so enthusiastic and motivated that far into the race, so could I. A big thanks to all the runners along the course with whom I shared a smile and word of encouragement. We did it! Date of review: October 17, 2005
In short: my first marathon and a perfect event to begin on. In full: Crocked with cramp at 19 miles but made it to the finish. To all marshalls- thanks for the encouragement to get me through the final 7 espeially, as others have mentioned, the girls at 24 miles. Now I know I can do it, I will be back next year for a much better time. Well done Abingdon. I can only repeat what others have said: excellent organisation and facilities, well run and stocked water /feed stations, superb marshalling, nice medal and shirt. 10/10. In short: A nice flat course In full: This was my second marathon and I knocked 18 minutes off my first, so you've got to be happy with that. The marshalls were great and the inclines steady, but the traffic was a bit unfriendly in places. The things that made it for me were the other runners who were supportive and encouraging all the way round. I'd recommend this race to anyone thinking of running their first marathon. I must admit however that I nearly fainted at 23 miles when I saw a sign saying 18! I thought I'd made a wrong turn. That cup of tea was a godsend. Date of review: October 17, 2005
In short: Superb organisation. Didn't everyone get a box of Maltesers at the end :-D In full: Good route although one or two road crossings a bit hairy. Excellent marshalling(yes especially those girls at 24 miles). Plenty of water stations. Great to finish on the track so your supporters have somewhere to congregate. And oh! The showers. Heaven. Good medal too. Well done the Race Committee. Date of review: October 17, 2005

I did it! In full: Amazing! My first ever full marathon having run LOADS of halves, 10 miles, 20 miles and 10k's. What a major step up it was too, a real challenge. The whole event was handled superbly and the organisers and marshals all deserve a massive pat on the back...WELL DONE! If you could do something about the wind then I'll be back ext year!! Thanks for helping me achieve something very special, my first marathon in 3hrs 47!!!!
In short: I'd recommend this to anyone. Long live Abingdon Marathon! In full: My first marathon and one I'll always remember. The organisation was excellent and the marshalls were plentiful, friendly and efficient. I hope they know what a good job they did - especially the 2 girls at 24 miles who gave me the severe roasting I needed to keep me on course for sub-hrs. I managed 3hr54, so thanks girls! An absolute corker all round. Date of review: October 17, 2005
