In short: Never thought it was going to be so brutal....but well worth the pain.
In full: What a great event, have always read about it and finally took the plunge to put myself through agony, but what a sense of achievement, all of which made even more amazing with the incredibly friendly and encouraging fellow runners and the ever so positive marshals, they were fantastic. Thank you all for putting on this outstanding Olympic edition.

In short: Hardest Thing I have ever done
In full: Dr Rob thank you for the Bonus hills and extra few miles as if this was not going to be tough enough. I would like to thank all the Great marshals and my fellow runners for making this a an awesome experience. I'm so tiered I want to sleep but the pain from my body just wont allow me. I would say bring it on for next year but I don't think I'm man enough to do it again. Once again Thank you everyone for making it a Great event.

In short: cannot believe howhard this is!
In full: Was gutted to have done 16 miles in 3-31 and missed the cut but it was so hard I would have been out there all night if I had carried on so glad to receive the excellent medal for the munroe! If it had been the normal marathon could have done it but did not feel well on the day so will be back next year to try again!

In short: Wonderful run, scenic, crazily tough, brilliantly organised
In full: Having run the Munro half on the same course several times, I should have known what to expect. But even that doesn't prepare you for the pain and fatigue that makes this run so challenging and enjoyable.
The course is extremely tough, well marked (I managed to add 1.5 miles to my run by missing an obvious turning after 18 miles - I can only blame tiredness!) and has beautiful views (if you can focus on anything other than pain), organisation excellent, marshals outstanding and very encouraging, and a great atmosphere which was augmented by the arrival of the half-marathon runners part-way through the race. A real sense of achievement in completing the course, having decided this would be my last marathon I am giving serious thought to entering again for next year's "special"!
Thanks to Dr Rob and the amazing marshals.

In short: Tough race but superb support and a great sense of achievement at finishing
In full: Missed the start, but the marshalls helped to pin my number on and sent me off in right direction - my strategy of following everyone else already in tatters. Though the toughest hill profile I had ever attempted, I was wondering whether my slow pace would mean that this was ultimately easier than a faster, flatter marathon. Oh, was I in for a shock. This was brutal, the final set of stairs really testing - even the final descent to the finish seemed to go on for ever. The support from the marshalls and other runners was superb and really helped to get me round. But, I finished, hobbled for three days and started training for 2012 three days after that. All in all, a great day out and one to remember. Thanks Dr Rob !

In short: Have Faith and you might judt make it!
In full: Brilliant race, just as tough as advertised - my marathon PB is 4.22, and I only made it with ten minutes to spare before the 7 hour limit (only 1.5 mins at halfway cut off). Special thanks to Brian for quoting Ecclesiastes to me - perhaps though Reveleation would be more apt!

In short: Sheer Insanity
In full: Everything about this race was extreme. The weather -thunder,lightening,torrential rain, sunshine, showers & hail. The hills!! The terrain - muddy, slippery, rocky, submerged stepping stones, roots, trees, gates & stiles.
The emotions - fear, exhilaration, despair, elation. The pain - cramp Ahhh & the crazy enthusiastic marshalls.
How do you top this!

In short: Five days down the line and I'm still buzzing
In full: What can I say that hasn't beeen said already? This is a fantastic race, I had a smile on my face the whole way round. The marshalls were brilliant, best I've ever come across. To mention one or a few above others is impossible. They were all wonderful. From the national anthem at the start to getting back to the finish line for the second time, everything was perfect. This is not an easy race by any stretch of the imagination. Dr Rob does not oversell this event. It's not something you could turn up and run with no or little basic training. Ok, you could, but you're gonna hurt a lot! I did it to challange myself and boy did it deliver. It is both a physical and a mental challange. If the entry for the next one was open now, I'd be in already.
