In short: Flat course, plenty of puddles, well organised, nice finish In full: Not the most scenic route, but a competent well-organised run finishing with a lap round the athletics track. Well organised, but not sure if there were enough lockers to go round, goody bag was nothing great (I'm not a fan of them anyway). Large amounts of rain before the race resulted in a very small change to the route, and plenty of puddles along the way, but no real problems. Thanks to all concerned at ESM. In short: Very well organised fast race In full: Plenty of toilets, parking is no problem, friendly atmosphere and nice warm clubhouse to get changed. Was surprised how fast the pace was as I prefer long distance but as someone else said, it's really good to run with a faster group and I managed to knock off 3.5mins of last year's time! This is in my yearly race calender. Well done Ealing. Date of review: December 7, 2009
In short: Flat and fast 5 miler with Olympics style track finish. In full: Nothing really stands out about the race. It was wet and slippery going around many of the tight corners. I saw one runner go down ahead of me. It is very flat and with a bit drier conditions, you could push harder. Date of review: December 7, 2009
In short: I enjoyed this one. Will look to come back next year. In full: Good marshalling and well organised. It was a nice day for a run and the atmosphere was good too. Date of review: December 6, 2009
In short: Charming local race In full: What can I say? even the weather decided to smile on this race. The organisation was smooth and friendly, the course was pleasant and the marshalls were really friendly and supportive. Date of review: December 6, 2009
In short: Well Organised friendly race In full: Very well organised race, plenty of marshalls who were all very friendly. Good start and finish on the track was also good. I would certainly do this race again. Very well done all round. Date of review: December 6, 2009
In short: Good value for money! In full: My first time running in this event and for the entry fee there really aren't any complaints for me to find. Getting changed in the club house, warm up on the track itself, Start the race and run on the pavements sharing the road areas with a few cars but its still well marshalled who shout encouragement to all runners not just their running club members. All mile markers matched my garmin (ok i went seven seconds into a mile 6?) but more accurate than other races i've entered?
The heavy rain today meant there were alot of big puddles that at times turned this road race into a steeple chase but you can't hold the organisers responsible for this?
If you want a short and quick blast of the legs you cant go too wrong here whatever your running standard.
In short: good morning Perivale In full: It was good to go back to an area that I once knew well...good event - it was my first 'short' race - a lot 'clubbier' than my previous experiences with halves and marathons...but this got me moving a little quicker than usual - to run with a quicker group improves you...well done Ealing - very well organised - did we actually start early?? In short: Not a scenic course but very fast In full: Moaned to myself as I went through the first mile. Typical I thought, the first marker is in the wrong place. By the time I'd reached the running track finish, I'd shut up. Could all the markers be in the wrong place, or had I just taken 30 secs off my PB?
Whatever the answer, I'm keeping tight lipped.
Might sneek back next year for this one. Date of review: December 9, 2008
