In short: What an awesome day out.
In full: I loved every minute of the day, from the un-London like friendliness on the train in right through to the post race-pint basking in a glow of achievement.

This was my second marathon (the last was thirty years ago), and the atmosphere was just unbelievable all the way round. A huge lift of those weary last few miles when it gets so tough. So different from my usual countryside running but massively enjoyable. I've got the bug!

In short: Everything you want a race to be
In full: Third time, and third great day. Everything is so easy - all the facilities are exactly where you want them to be and so all you have to think about is running. I was on the FGFA start this year and we were up to speed within yards and very little congestion. It's a bit different if you're further back where it can be very crowded, but it's still possible to run a good time. The one downside to the FGFA start is that all the bags go on one truck and most of the runners finish within a few minutes of each other so it's an absolute scrum to get your bag back, but that's a very minor inconvenience in the scheme of things. I'll be back next year for a crack at 3 hours

In short: Different class
In full: People who I had spoken to before said that it was worth doing for the crowds alone and they were right. If you ever need to restore your faith in the goodness of human nature either enter this event or go and see it.

I have never been more glad to see a finish line, but also more reluctant to finish. Like many I said never again on the day, but now the aches and pains have gone..............

In short: Fantastic experience!
In full: Crowds are awesome, very inspiring. Crowded. First time and due to injury not enough training, so took it easy, even-ish splits and finished strong. Definitely will do again! Loved every second. Organisation fantastic. Great, flat course.
