In short: First time - great event In full: Enjoyed this race enormously. Fabulous atmosphere, great support and brilliant weather to boot. Only (very minor) gripe was no refreshments at the end when most needed, other than a cup of tea. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Super spring time race In full: Once again the Hastings half did not disappoint. The hills are still there - both up and down, but all the way round the crowd support is fantastic. Clear mile markers, regular water stops and additional contributions - jelly babies, oranges and bananas at various points. Roads closed means that there's plenty of space to spread out, despite the growing numbers of entrants. I think even the finishing commentary has improved! Well done Hastings Lions! In short: Can you really go "!up" the "Downs"? In full: A good race, the hills not as bad as I had feared. Crowd support brilliant, the whole town turned out. Changing/shower facilities at the Sea Cadet HQ very limited. A banana or something at the finish would have been nice; the hot sweet tea was very much appreciated. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Super run - great support and highly recommended In full: This was my first half marathon - and I loved it! The hills at the beginning are challenging but well worth it. The support was incredible, and the whole town gets behind the event. A superb event, well organised with some really nice touches. I will do this one again! Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Loved it - FANTASTIC crowd support! In full: 3rd Half the year for me after the Brighton and Eastbourne. The free park and ride was very good (i was on one of the last ones and JUST made it in time. pinning my number which my friend had collected with 30 seconds to spare!)
The best part of this race has got to be the awesome support from the crowds literally the whole way round, something I've not experienced in other races. There were live rock bands playing en route, music and DJs at various points, and even a church choir singing near the start (a bit different!). Then there were all the locals at the pubs and outside their houses making noise with hooters, as well as a number of drumming groups and pipe bands. The list goes on!
Nice fast finish, but TOUGH between miles 2-7 once the initial racing buzz has worn off.
Clocked a new PB as well, so I guess the hills can't have been too bad afterall. Took off nearly 2 minutes for 1.21 :) Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: A great introduction to organised racing In full: My first organised half marathon race which I cannot fault. Amazing atmosphere and friendly runners. I was concerned about the hills but trained accordingly and honestly do not think that they are as bad as others have stated. It was a relief though after 6 miles to know that the remainder was flat/ down hill. The promenade finish was excellent with a rousing crowd. Recommended. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: An uphill task. In full: I have done loads of races and this has to be by far the best. The crowd support was unbelievable. Especially along the ridge. Date of review: March 20, 2011
