In full: The scenery was beautiful and it was nice to stop and walk to look at the scenery and have a breather as some of the hills were hard going. It's a race I've been wanting to run for a while bit I found it's not one to do when you've just been on holiday for a week. Doing no training and eating and drinking far too much.

In full: Ran this last year and find it to be a good event. Very well sign posted which is handy because at the "Sargent Major's" briefing he threatened to take anyone to spec savers if they got lost!! One gripe for me tho is there is far too much road involved, otherwise a good undulating course with a couple of steep climbs in the forest, have to be patient with the stiles, gates ect. Was none to impressed at the third water stn when told to wait a few mins whilst they were getting more water!! also the last water stn is 5miles from the finish which is quite a way to go still, thank heavens for the man with the hose watering his garden with about 2miles to go! Finish area is ok and friendly but i watched numerous runners finish to silence which is a bit disappointing. Its a good race tho and will probably do it again next year.

In short: Hills and stiles.................but a bit different and a good challenge
In full: I have seen this race advertised over the last couple of years and managed to fit it in this year. I went in to this race not knowing quite what to expect apart from hills!
There were a few bottlenecks to get through gates and stiles and it was quite hard to get in to a rhythm but what can you expect when running where we were!
This might not be a fell race but makes a nice change for the not so serious runner.
We were aiming for 3 1hr 10ks which I still think is a good aim. The first one was a bit slow because of waiting and the hills. The second one was quicker and then unfortunately my legs went. I need to go back next year now to improve!!
I though the signs were very good and it meant you had to concentrate as did the terrain. Very enjoyable and legs are aching today!!

In short: This is a great off road race. With some interesting Hills :-)
In full: I really enjoyed this race.

Very friendly, well organised, and fantastic scenery.

The race itself was tough (Due to the Hills) but well worth the run. I was using it as a long training run for a marathon so nothing like the hills to give you a bit of extra training.

Would I do it again? YES, it is one I would say to others give it a go :-)

In short: Second time racing but the last
In full: As an fell runner, I was amazed to see this listed in the FRA handbook this year....why?...it's not a flippin' fell race!

This is the second year that I have run this, is an challenging course, if your used to tarmac, but is no way a fell race. Plenty of sign posts but on several occassions I had to call other runner back after they went the wrong way.

The course, as a whole is lovely, if you love rolling Derbyshire grassy hills with plenty of stiles. No steep descents or ascents, all runable.

The atmosphere at the finish is a little flat....I have run some pretty low key fell races and ultras this year around the country and everyone cheers all runners in this case.....and this seems to be 'Derbyshire thing'. Sorry Derbyshire - you really show a lack of friendliness to your runner visitors.

In short: Awesome race.....again!!!!
In full: Can only think that the previous poster (payless) was at a different race from the one I attended today. We were blessed with superb conditions, dry, good footing and very few slick areas even through Shining Cliff Woods, which is a notorious location for tricky running. Brilliant marshalling, an abundance of jelly babies and cracking weather made for one of the best long runs I've completed in 2010.

Superbly well done to the organisers once again. I'm a road runner/racer, but this event keeps me coming back for more.

Great having racekit.co.uk sponsor the prizes this year as they were superb and very generous.

Love it to bits.
