In short: A very enjoyable event, and lots of facilities on hand to keep the family occupied. In full: An interesting course, with a couple of hills along the way. The start is very congested, with only a hundred yards or so before the course narrows. As other people have mentioned, starting with a circuit of the athletics track would give more time for the field to spread out before reaching the narrow section. As the event starts next door to a leisure centre, there are lots of changing facilities, lockers, loos and showers there, which makes a nice change from the usual portaloos at a lot of events. In addition, the swimming pool and excellent cafe means that the rest of the family can amuse themselves there during the race, and have lunch there afterwards to avoid any queues on leaving the site. In full: Good route with good support. I arrived very early (75 mins before start) and still had to queue longer for my web-entered number than people who enetered on the day did!I also had to give my t-shirt size on entry, so expected a t-shirt (not unreasonable?) No t-shirt though. No real moans though,a good route, good views, nice variety, nice atmosphere. Did a PB of 1h44m20s (on my watch), looking for sub 1h40m in 2011! Date of review: November 14, 2010
In short: Lovely weather, nice race In full: Well organised and friendly! ideal course for running as fast as you can. I ran faster than that and paid for it at the end. Just clung on for a PB. My third half marathon and a PB evey time but I could be struggling next time!
It could be improved by warning all the cyclists to avoid the narrow section along the river near Crook of Lune. Date of review: November 8, 2010
In short: Perfect running weather made this an enjoyable day out. Had to queue for number as already mentioned on here and would have been better if numbers could be posted out. Overall a nice run to suite all capabilities. Date of review: November 8, 2010
In short: Scenic route enhanced by good weather conditions for early Nov, good organisation, fantasic marshalls, got a PB - would def. do again. Well done to all involved. Date of review: November 8, 2010
In short: Excellent race - scenic course and interesting route In full: Very enjoyable race. I'm not someone who is too bothered about scenery but this race is very scenic especially on a sunny day. Nice to run on a few paths as well as the roads. A good mix of road and paths make for an interesting course.
Collection of numbers was chaotic. Many people had entered online to avoid this yet it looked like you did not need to que up as much if you were entering on the day. Date of review: November 8, 2010
