In short: Tough trail race - Incredible surroundings - Tip top organization
In full: Brilliant race through Exmoor coastal terrain. Good variety of trail surfaces to keep you entertained. Chip system to time your various zones. Extra miles on than you plan for adding to the 'gruel factor' - they do it on purpouse - stop moaning about the extra distance. Print out of times immediately (clever bit of kit!). Couldnt recommend it more (although would recommend practising the hill running!) 10/10

In short: Well organised scenic event
In full: Was it expensive? Not really when you compare to the rip-offs that are Bath/Bristol Half/Bristol 10k. Organisation was almost faultless; for those of us who parked in the top field walking back up the huge hill was a killer at the end of the race. Was it £1 to park there or was that just an enterprising local?
Also in the half marathon we started to pick up the pace at 11.5 miles only to run on for another 4 miles... typical off road course I suppose.. the extra views made up for the distance.
I would certainly agree with the 'bit corporate' comment, but the scenary made up for any Price Waterarse t-shirts ;-)

However, was a great event, value was fine and the guys organising cheerful. How many races are able to give you a print out of your times directly at the finish.. nice touch! Also pretty groovy being able to sit down afterwards and eat provided chilli lunch.

Would easily do one of the endurance events again.. so thanks guys...

In short: worth it for the great course and fantastic scenery
In full: Yes pricey but it takes a lot to organise an event in such a remote area. Numbers were kept low and there were lots of organising staff there. After doing a string of road half-marathons, this was different, fun, risky in places, impossible to run all the way, no chance of a PB, but it was enjoyable and challenging. Timings were irrelevant, so I could enjoy the experience. Very friendly, not too competitive, but the toughest event I have done.

In short: Beautiful!
In full: This was an excellent course, stunning views of the coastline and very varied terrain.
The organisers were genuinely nice guys, although the position of the finishing shhot was a bit awkward - especially when you had runners queuing for their print outs and people trying to run into the finish in the same gate way. Surely next year it would be better to enter from the other end of the tent? Or have the finish in the larger crossroads area in fromt of the pub?
And as to all the lark about the entry fee - nobody is forcing anybody to race, and it's organised by a company not a running club so it's fine by me!

In short: This race will put you through it, but it's worth it for the reward
In full: Tough race that's longer than advertised, and at 28.9 miles, I'd leave the Garmin at home and just enjoy the views. Friendly team who put in the effort, but the route was marked a little poorly, could be more signs and pointers. Tough course means that you never get to rest, steep inclines and declines all the way. Nice touch with the dog tag medals at the end. Happy to do again.

In short: Big big hills with breathtaking views
In full: A great location, staggering landscape and very steep hills. I ran Portland and this course was much better but 2 criticisms - course marking was poorer so I saw many go off route several times, and this was actually 15.5m! I don't mind running that distance but if I'm told HM, a start pushing at 12m. To then find a mystery 2m after that over this terrain was a killer plus I thought we might have gone off course (again)! Will be trying the others next year as they're brilliant fun and the organisers seem like a good bunch.
