In short: What a difference 12 months made
In full: Well done 2:09 after last year. Glad to report you turned it around this year on all aspects; course, organisation, marshalling. Weather forcasters got it wrong again though and we were treated to a warm one, but no reports of water running out! My 13th Tewkesbury, but hamstring injury building up to the event put paid to a decent time, but happy with a 1:49 considering. Back next year for certain, but then again it is my local one. Good recovery 2:09.

In short: A nice first HM
In full: A nice, well organized race for our first Malf Marathon. Lots of water, lots of signs, lots of marshalls.

Funny bits:

Runners were all on left and right and group of cyclists didn't know where to go!!!
A family watching the race and blocking the whole pavement!!
4x4 drives past slowly cheering us on, then accelerates off in a cloud of black smoke... cough!
Downwards slope towards the end was a bit hairaising!

It did all go a bit pear shaped back in town at the end, but 2:09 did say the marshalls would be standing down after 2h 20m.

There've been some complaints about queues for chips, we got there an hour before, why doesn't everyone else?

BUT no complaints from us.

Wouldn't do it again in a hurry as there's only so many races you can do in a year and there's 100's out there. Nice way to see town and a bit of countryside.

Ian & Caroline, Romford.

In short: A great day out
In full: I was very impressed by how well organised this race was. It was generally well marshalled with sufficient water stops, all helped by great weather! I beat my BP and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Can't wait 'til next year!

In full: Start and finish areas great but no information over PA at start therefore lacked atmosphere. Why did we have to queue for chips on the day; an unneccessary delay.

Marshalling was poor. The instructions said keep to the left but I lost count of the number of times the race crossed the road. Near the finish in the town at the roundabout a marshall has his back to the runners talking to a spectator while runners were being forced into the road with oncoming traffic because a family with buggy had blocked the pavement.

I had received good reports on this race but this didn't live up to them

In short: Great scenic race
In full: Thought the organization was spot on.Car park next to the start; nice family friendly finish area;good medal and goody bag.Yes there were queues for the toilets and chip timers, but there were 1000 runners...get there earlier folks.Course was very scenic out of town with the gradual climbs making it just tough enough.Loads of support and great marshalling and water station helpers to cheer you on.The 209 team deserve a lot of credit for laying on a great run.See you next year.

In short: Well organised, but could do better.
In full: It was the first time I ran this race but I almost didn't, I was almost put off by previous reviews. However, the organisations seemed to be ok (apart from the start), there was good support and the marshalls were all very chipper, well done!

In short: Good race, good atmosphere
In full: Enjoyed this race, weather was perfect, course much improved and the organisation was good. I think the finish down the high street makes a memorable finish (it was the one thing I could remember from doing it a few years back!). Felt a bit sorry for the last finishers who were not really sure where they were going at then end though. Need toilets at the finish next time.
