In short: 2nd time I've run it and already looking forward to next year as its a lovely friendly little race. In full: Very pleasant small race, challenging course but still beginner friendly as you get a real sense of achievement completing it. The organisation is by the local rotary club so doesn't have to professionalism of, say, Paddock Wood half but is very endearing and has a huge amount of charm; and of course its a much smaller event. Inexpensive, the money goes to good causes, friendly, challenging but great for beginners, just an all round great event.
Shame I ran so badly thought :( Date of review: March 11, 2012
In short: Well organised, challenging and good fun In full: Not done a cross country for 30+ years, so was pleased that my time was only 2 minutes slower than the last 10k road race. Very well organised, encouraging and friendly marshalls all round the course. Date of review: March 23, 2011
In short: Muddy, fun, wel organised In full: I enjoyed the race although, I regretted not owning any trail shoes as the mud was slippery on the park sections. That was a bit annoying on the finish straight where there was a danger of slipping over during the sprint. Overall a really good run though, through lovely park scenery. In short: Wish I had done more hill training! In full: Not a good start as although told I could register on the day they had run out of chips and numbers when I got there. Other than that very good organisation, the marshalls were very helpful and charming and the medals and bananas at the finish were well organised.
I struggled with the first 2km which I was personally disappointed with but managed to run the hill 2nd time around and sprint finish to come in around 59mins. Shame i wasn't chipped but will definitely ensure I sign up online in plenty of time for next year! Date of review: March 16, 2011
In short: A nice Sunday morning In full: Despite having raced since 1979 I'd largely missed this type of run, concentrating almost exclusively on inter-club races. My loss as this was good fun, easy to navigate and with more than enough helpers and marshals. It has a bit more road in it than I'd like but most can be avoided by using the grassy verges. If I'm fit and healthy in 2012 I'll return. Date of review: March 15, 2011
In short: Once again, organised with precision In full: Proud to be a local with an event like this on your door step. All "backroom" staff were brilliant, again. Supporters fantastic too, even if I got a "We Luv" or a "We Hate Marmite" Hard word after a 4 month lay off and what is it about that first 2k!! Date of review: March 14, 2011
In short: Lovely setting. Testing start to each lap. In full: Great race. Friendly marshalls and well organised from the parking to registration, chip collection, directions to the the course etc. Good mix of abilities and nice to have chip timing. Results posted on website quickly. Will def be back next year.
