In short: Muddy, wet and windy and I still enjoyed it!
In full: I`ve only been running for six months and in that time it`s always been dry underfoot. Is a cross country half marathon always that hard? Several people had bad falls around me and I think my time of just over a couple of hours would have been fifteen minutes quicker on roads. However it was a memorable race with great scenery, organisation and a feeling of achievement at the end.

In short: Muddy! Well organised and very encouraging marshalls.
In full: Tough terrain. Very wet and windy conditions in 2006, particularly on exposed areas. Probably best to have trail shoes in retrospect. Excellent marshalling and plenty of drink stations, although if you want lucozade/jelly babies etc then carry them with you! Less scenic for the last 2 miles or so, but very satisfying to finish.
