In short: tough going but great fun
In full: Hardly any mud this year,so much easier going on the Downs. However, the headwind on the long open stretches to Canvey Island more than compensated and the new up hill finish was just cruel. Great value, faultless organisation despite the enforced changes to course and race HQ and lots of very welcome encouragement from the marshals all the way round - I'll be back again next year.

In short: Tough course, Tough Head-Wind.
In full: My 1st time at the event and had heard a few noises that the change in start/finish may not work so well but no worries on the day, well done Benfleet a great event. Tough course and headwind back to Benfleet was quite something. Thought doing the 1mile fun run with my daughter would be a good warm up, on reflection should have saved my legs!

In short: Excellent race, great marshalling.
In full: Found this so so hard due to the wind from mile 10 to about 14 but the marshalls were superb and organisation excellent. Particularly like the tshirt, Thanks :)

In short: Excellently organised and marshalled
In full: I was expecting more mud but the conditions underfoot were generally good this year. the wind made up the difficultly though, six miles or so into a headwind does sap your strength. Organisation was excellent and thanks to the encouraging marshalls. Also a nice tech t at the finish. Well done Benfleet.

In short: Had no intention of racing, just wanted to see if I could do the distance!
In full: Very hard/windy/hilly 15 miles at Benfleet today.
Had no intention of racing, just wanted to see if I could do the distance!
Managed to finish within my goal of 3 hours...just lol That was with stopping for about 5 minutes waiting to get over a stile/gate and also stopped and ate/drank at every station and a far bit of walking due to the wind.

In short: Windy & hilly, may favourite combination!
In full: I really love this race. Hard to evaluate if 2012 course was better in senses than previous years?

Wow, what a hill to have a finish line mud way up though.

Marshals; thankyou, you was really uplifting.

In short: A very enjoyable 5 miles of off road craziness sandwiched between 10 miles of drudgery
In full: The middle section was quite fun, lots of slippy mud and big puddles, although could have made much more of the hills that were right next to you to reqally spice things up. The one hill on the course really isn't as bad as the website made out.

The other 10 miles of flat, seawall running was cold, windy, grey and quite uninspiring and made the tired last few miles a chore rather than a delight.

Organisation was pretty good although I was just greeted by a load of chattering people at the finish who didn't seem to concerned with giving me my t-shirt or providing any water

In short: Mud, water, wind, mud, pain. Great organisation and marshalling
In full: I can't say that we weren't warned. There is mud (lots of it) between miles 6 & 9, some of it smelly. The start lulls the runner into a false sense of security with a nice flat 5 mile jog along the sea wall, but when we hit the really heavy stuff it was like 'Bambi on ice'(except perhaps for the first few, and they were well out of my sight!) At least we gave the photographers a good laugh.

Great encouragement from the marshals, and the food was really welcome at about 9.5 miles.

Great refreshments and lovely home-made cake at the HQ, but the showers were freezing and no more than a trickle (although I don't think that's the organiser's fault!) Excellent technical t-shirt to finishers.

I would certainly give this one another try, but would first get fitter, and use old kit (bring a black sack and deposit said muddy kit in nearest bin).

Thanks for a fun day out!
