In short: Respectfull event for a large city event In full: A large field for a 10K distance. This in mind I think it is well organised and a great opportunity for non regular runners to take part in a large event. Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Good fast flat course, size of event seems to be causing organisation issues In full: This is on my doorstep so I will keep coming back. However, the growth of the event to 11,000+ seems to be straining the organisation capabilities. I was in a business challenge team and one of the team members didn't receive his race pack so had to visit the race info tent the day before the event. On collecting his number he was told there were only two people registered fot the team, not the five who signed up! We now have an anxious wait to se if our team will actually be counted. The course itself is flat and fast so good if you're after a PB. Though there was a bit of bottle necking near the start and a bit of jostling past slower runners who had put themselves too far forward. Something weird seemed to happen at baggage tent. One massive queue but then about a dozen others completely empty. Whatever was planned there didn't work out. Best t shirt this year. I'll definitely wear this in the gym. Nice touch have a t shirt swap stall for those who had picked up the wrong size. Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Save baggage delays, still one of the best organised races In full: 2nd time round for me having done it in 2011. Will always be a special race for me as it was my first running event. So have come full circle. No PB but beat my time from 2011 easily. So happy with that.
Bristol still up there with the best in terms of organisation. With approx 9000 finishers that's no mean feat. Only glitch was reclaiming baggage after. Queues similar to Heathrow! Goody bag was also a little disappointing. Nice t-shirt. Same medal as last year.
Course is quick. Great for beginners. Seemed to do more dodging this year getting around slower runners - to be expected with 9000 runners but maybe the Wave starts not working as intended?
Great atmosphere again. Well supported by the locals. Had loud music at the right places. Well done runbristol. Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Good event and well organised. Value is based upon fact I got over 60's rate. Only downside is if you finish near back you cannot get XL tee shirt. Bearing in mind if you need that size you are potentially XL in that position it is a bdisappointmen Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Need to sort the baggage tents, but otherwise a great race In full: I've rated this as a good value race because I want to highlight the fact that the race organisers set up a system of reduced price entry for local clubs. It was a great gesture and nice to see a big race with a corporate feel trying to keep in touch with local runners. I hope they keep the system going!
Only glitch was baggage reclaim at the end. No criticism of the cadets who were manning the tents, who were all very polite and helpful, but I think there needed to be more of them so that bags could be found more quickly. It might also help if numbers were allocated randomly rather than in projected finish order so that there aren't clumps of people all queued up by one section of the reclaim tent.
Otherwise, a flat course and decent organisation. A bottle of water and a chocolate bar from the goody bag kept me amused in the baggage queue! Date of review: May 20, 2012
In short: Fast course, excellent organisation In full: My first ever race and one that convert any non runner based on the flat course, the brilliant organisation and awesome atmosphere in the last 3 Kms.
The organisation is very professional given the large field (9000 runners). From the race packs received very early, wave starts, water stations and clockwork like post finish trail (silver sheet, medal, powerade, banana).
I have now done 5 half marathons and 6 10Km races and have entered next month's race. Bristol got me hooked on running! Date of review: April 17, 2012
In short: Well organised In full: First 10k and enjoyed it. Well worked by putting 4 waves groups, from elite/profession group down to beginner/novice groups. Nice route from the quayside out to the suspension bridge and back. Weather was mild but a spectators cheering you on. Nice promotional stuff from Lucozade. Mainly flat with only one incline. Definitely do again. Date of review: June 30, 2011
