In short: A good challenge in decent surroundings.
In full: Quite a tough race for a relatively short distance. That long climb, three and a half times, is a very good test. Well organised and nice to have changing facilities. Not the friendliest race I have entered but hey this is London!

In short: A low key event with a few hills to make the trip worthwhile.
In full: I really enjoyed the race. This was my first run after an 8 month break so I was concerned that I would have lost alot of form. This was my first 'lap race' I usually to out and back courses but I really enoyed it. The first hill (which was also the 3rd, 5th and 7th hill) certainly sorted the men from the boys, but was over pretty quickly. Not a party atmosphere, but great if your looking for a fast run in a nice london park. Marshalls were helpful and were especially encouraging in the later stages, thank you. I will return next year.
PS Also love the T-shirt, green makes a nice change.

In short: Not bad, but not ideal for beginners.
In full: The course was a bit boring - 3 times round the park, and you were always going either up or down, there were no flat bits. A more clearly marked starting line would have been nice, too. The field was quite small, and the overall standard was very high, which may be off-putting for beginners. I wouldn't have enjoyed it quite so much if it was my first event at that distance.

That said, the race was well organised, and running in parks is always nice. The weather was lovely, too, which made the run even more enjoyable. My own performance was nothing to write home about, but that was everything to do with me and nothing to do with the event itself.

A special commendation must go to the first marshall on the left after the start line. Supportive marshalls can really make a race, and he was the only one who consistently applauded the runners as they went past. Thank-you, that man.

In short: 3.5 laps of Finsbury Park - Friendly, but it is what it is!
In full: I'm slightly regretful about the 'average' rating. Perhaps I've been spoilt/fussy over the years. Local parking was tricky even on a Sunday (Residents' permits abound - best to pretend you're a shopper at the local Superstores at the NE corner of the park!!), local club-competition feel to the race, not exactly a big budget event which had its pluses/minuses, however the organisers/marshals were friendly and efficient(once we'd spotted the pale orange start line on the tarmac) and encouraged everyone equally, the back markers as much as the leaders. The field was small enough to avoid congestion and confusion despite 3.5 laps over the same paths, so it was easy to run your own race. The lap format was unavoidable, the course was somewhere between the road runner's and the CC runner's definition of 'flat', but started and finished uphill which was the unfriendliest aspect of the day, apart from the local traffic wardens being so alert on a Sunday morning. Victoria Park in Hackney is a better venue as it's bigger, as is Regent's Park, but the host club did a good and welcoming job and well done to them! I'd do it again as it's relatively local for me. Maybe I call it 'average' as I've come to expect such enjoyable and friendly experiences from the road running world?
