In short: Great day out In full: Thanks to the orgasnisers, helpers, supporters and of course the other runners for a wonderful day out. The checkpoints were well stocked and efficient. The map book worked even if my map reading didn't always. The weather and the route were spot on. And the company was superb.
The only things I would change are the price; because I'm a tight so and so and am more used to low cost low key stuff (e.g. fell races such as Edale Skyline...something like £12 with a meal at the end).
And more importantly the finish. It felt shoved round the back of the Whiteair festival, didn't give supporters much of a view, was awkward and involved running on shingle. I think East Brighton park would have worked a lot better.
Cheers and thanks very much - Raymond Date of review: September 21, 2009

In short: Outstanding..downland running at its best In full: I can safely say that this is one of the most outstanding races I have done in recent years. The organisation was second to none, the support staff were brilliant.
To be able to organise support people, equipment and arrange a race over 56-57 miles and make it appear so smooth and efficient to us runners was a real bonus.
Guys you are the best, I am wearing my L2B t-shirt with pride with a feeling of disbelief that after 9 months of training it is all over. Date of review: September 20, 2009

In short: Mental strength needed for this one as well as physical stamina In full: This was certainly the toughest event I have ever entered, and I certainly paid the price for adding this run onto the back of a hectic triathlon training schedule. I would strongly advise anyone doing this run to take a support crew with them since there were no real arrangements in place to collect runners who had to drop out at checkpoints. The chance to take on enough solid food would also be a huge bonus. I was concerned about the poor communication between checkpoint staff - nobody appeared to be phoning ahead to inform volunteers who had dropped out. I would like to say a huge thanks to the couple who helped me between CP3 and CP4 and took pity on a very wet/cold/lost female!
Would I do it again. NO! Well, maybe...... Date of review: October 17, 2008

In short: Not for the faint hearted... In full: This was a fantastic opportunity to go the distance over extremely tough terrain. There was nothing about this race that was easy, but the support of fellow runners and support crews was excellent. Some found navigation difficult but often that was due to fatigue or poor map reading, the guide from the organisers was clear and well presented.
Do this race if you are mentally ready for a challenge and physically in pretty good shape. Date of review: October 11, 2008

In short: A fantastic course with a bit of everything In full: I loved the route, there was beautiful scenery, road, trails, woods, fields. The conditions were tough, we were running into the wind and it was very wet and muddy, this made it even more rewarding to finish. Support along the route and from other runners was excellent. You need to map read, the navigation wasn't too difficult but reccying beforehand would save a lot of time. This was definitely one of my favourite running experiences. In short: Wet, tough, muddy and wet ( I know I said that already but it was so wet I thought I'd say it twice) In full: A well supported but tough challenge. This is certainly not for the faint hearted but then you wouldn't consider it if you were would you!? Some comments are against the organisation of the event. I think it was as well organised as it could be. The weather was appalling and this made the going very tough (felt like a 56 mile long assault course) but the support given was warm and genuine and each checkpoint was met with encouragement from the support crew. If you like to test yourself and fancy a difficult ultra then do this. You do need to follow a map, you will be knackered, it is a long way and you might get lost - but isn't that the point? In short: The Race was billed as a 56 mile ultra marathon where runners should be self sufficient for food. That is exactly what us runners got. The race was made more difficult by the poor conditions but overall an excellent event. Date of review: October 8, 2008

In short: Glad I was a support team and not a participant! In full: A tad worrying that just because I and a friend were wearing high viz jackets that runners thought we were organisers! However, if we hadn't been there for some runners they might still be out there or worse still under a car! Definitely in need of signage on the roads and could really do with marshals at some of the busy junctions as runners in the zone could easily wander straight out! Date of review: October 8, 2008
