In full: For a first time half marathon I found this course quite challenging as it was hilly and very muddy!! The extra 1km uphill for those of us doing the 21k was a bit of a killer. The event itself was very well organised, the marshalls and spectators were very encouraging and the bananas at the end and the goodie bag were well received. This is definitely not a run to get your PB, but a good course if you want a bit of a challenge. Date of review: March 27, 2010
In short: My first offroad race, and I'll be back! In full: Gentle introduction to offroad running. A bit muddy in patches, but generally good quality trails through the Alice Holt woods. Well organised and good goody bag. Date of review: March 27, 2010
In short: Mud glorious mud - but in reality not too much of it! A bit hilly as well. In full: The BRH 21K is a 4 lap course with other runners doing 1 lap (5K) and 2 laps (10K) - a dogend just before the end of the 1st lap adds the extra km for the 21K. The organisation was excellent - and the weather this year was good running weather but the trees also(the course is on foresty land) provide some shade. The course itself is through woodland and very pleasant - in parts it is muddy - you could lose a shoe in the wrong bits - and you did have to leap the odd puddle - but this added to the fun. I would do it again - its a lovely small low key event which had an absolutely fab. goodie bag at the end - complete with mug from a well known coffee chain sponsor - chocolate, cereal bar, water bottle etc etc, - even lots of bananas! The organisation was efficient and friendly and the field not too crowded. Its not a HM with loads of crowd support - but if you enjoy a good trail run and aren't afraid of a little mud this is a lovely race. Date of review: March 27, 2010
In short: Fab race with a great atmosphere! In full: I'm sure those hills were steeper on the fourth lap! Really enjoyed this one - lovely surroundings, great organisation and perfect weather. Well done guys! Date of review: April 5, 2009
In short: As usual, the AAT team put on another great event In full: Excellent organisation and marshaling as always. Fun route and 4 laps is not at all boring. Cheeky little 1k at the end of the first lap and a surprisingly energy sapping final stretch.
Big thanks to the marshaling group at the final x-roads (by the start of the 1k) - you were brilliant.
Keep the two water stations Toby, they were needed.
Definite for me again in 2009, but with some proper training Date of review: April 4, 2009
