In short: Ouch In full: The second time I've done this 10 miler and by god does it hurt, there are three big hills and lots of small ones that make pacing a nightmare. Its reasonably well organised but they did seem to be caught out by the numbers even thought was a Hants Road Race League Fixture. However I really do like this race, and as Blackers says its a real day out and I got another PB this year, weird! Date of review: February 4, 2008

In short: A great run along the hilly roads of the north-east Isle of Wight. In full: This part of the Isle of Wight is particularly hilly and the race undulates from start to finish. However, the scenery is pleasant, its well marshalled and traffic this year didn't seem to be such a problem. 2 water stations and plenty of support along the way was a great help. I'll be doing this again next year but helps that the start is only 400m from my house! Date of review: February 4, 2008

In short: Watch out! The downhills will hurt more than the up! In full: I love this race. The sight of what must have been over 200 runners swelling the passenger list on the 09:15 fastcat from southsea instilled an atmosphere that lasted through the day until the same crowds disembarked at 2:30 in the pm.
I think the crowds took Ryde Harriers a bit by surprise as there were more than a few hand written numbers, but they seemed to cope with the swolen ranks fine. I did hear of some impatient motorists as the race went on, but the drivers we met (nearer the sharp end) were fine.
Those down hills hurt though! Date of review: February 4, 2008

In short: Bloody hills.....3 big buggers In full: Very Challenging, but rewarding........except no medal (poss due to running out, which is inexcusable if thats the case).
Field was very spread out, but i guess the main field was made up of league runners, so this is to be expected.
Overall not the worst race i have done, but on the otherhand its a mile away from being the best. Date of review: February 4, 2008

In short: Train for hills and you'll be fine. In full: The category ratings I've given make this race out to be worse than it is. In truth, it is never going to be a great big spectacular race, but it is a really good race. There's a good mix of runners and the course runs through some picturesque parts of the Isle of Wight. I would definitely do it again. Date of review: February 4, 2008

In short: An ok challenging 10 mile race.. In full: Challenging hills which were nice, not very nice if you were tailing at the back like I was (9 minute mile) the field was very spread out...dissapointed at the lack of medal too. Date of review: February 3, 2008
