In short: Awful 10K course In full: At times it's dangerous. Two parts in particular, 1) you suddenly turn the corner over one of the many bridges to find you need to do an emergency stop or go flying down some steps. THere was no warning at all, not even a marshall in sight. 2) Down a wet and slippery zig zag path. Date of review: November 13, 2011
In short: A real thigh buster In full: All on park pathways with a couple of pinch points. Plenty of ups and downs to test the stamnina. Not much about the charity, not even mentioned by the loud PA. Date of review: November 12, 2011
In short: Good fast race, delayed start though In full: I thoroughly enjoyed this race firstly, it was beautiful by the river, however it was VERY cold, so the delayed start (due to queues of people waiting for the portaloos) was quite unpleasant. Otherwise, thought it was a good race, got a PB and nice scenery by the river. Date of review: October 18, 2011
In short: Nice but... In full: ... it would be good to organise the waves by abilities: if you're not in the first wave, forget about PB ambition, too many slow runners will slow you down in the first 2kms Date of review: October 16, 2011
In short: Lovely race In full: This was my second time doing this, first being the 2010 Spring race. Lovely course, ok there are some narrow bits where it's a little tricky to overtake, but overall nice course, well organised. Managed to knock 3 mins off PB too! Good medal at the end. I'll be back next year! Date of review: October 16, 2011
In short: Flat, fast and great atmosphere, excellent for beginners In full: I've done this one twice now, the 2 races in 2011. The Spring race was my first competitive race and a great introduction that gave me the bug.
The Autumn race this year had perfect weather, a friendly group of runners, a nice medal plus water, sweets and bananas at the end with no goody bag of tosh accompanying it.
I would definitely recommend it, even knocked 45 seconds off my PB. Date of review: October 15, 2011
