In short: Good route but organisation deteriorated since last year In full: I only did the 8 miles this year instead of last year's 16 and felt that the organisation was worse - baggage area was a nightmare, lack of mile markers on the route (1 and 7 missing if memory serves) and still disappointed there is no medal and no goody bag at all this year. But it's my local race on my regular training route and there's something to be said for having it all over and done with and back home by 10.30. Will probably do the autumn 8 miles in prep for GSR and 16 next year if I get a FLM place Date of review: April 2, 2007
In short: Great run In full: Bit crowded at the beginning (of the 16) but fine after this. Would recommend it to anyone for a first race or for for more seasoned runners. Lovely flat run, half the run has lovely scenery and NO HILLS! Date of review: April 2, 2007
In short: Great race, well organised, very flat - too crowded at start. In full: A really enjoyable race, very flat and lovely along the river. The only problem was crowding at the start and having to keep passing people when catching up with the 8-milers. Date of review: April 2, 2007
In short: Good race - but entry size and importance as FLM training should make it better organised In full: It's a great route - for 50% of the way, running by the river is fantastic. I think it has got popular enough to justify chip timing and some re-organisation of the route or road closures to make this pretty good race a great race. Water stations and marshalls were great but narrow pavement next to fairly busy road and no chip timing were not-so-great Date of review: April 2, 2007
In short: Flat with lovely views of Hampton Court In full: Get there early if you're driving, if only to figure out which car park to use and expect LONG queues for the ladies' toilets! A flat race. Two circuits with the earlier part of each alongside the river and past Hampton Court Palace, which looks glorious. Date of review: April 2, 2007
In short: Good organisation; cold, long wait at the start In full: Good points: - Good organisation - plenty of marshalls to divert traffic along the way, and plenty of drinks stations, three with lucozade - Nice finish - in the middle of the town centre, with lots of cheers - Beautiful scenery for part of the way - nice run along the river and Hampton Court - Good cheering at 5/13 miles - lots of friendly people handing out lucozade, cheering and joking: made me laugh!
Bad points: - Quite a long wait at the start, when it was still very cold - Recommend bringing an old jumper to wear and throw away! - Big part of the route through residential areas - A bit boring, and didn't like having to step on and off the pavement all the time to let people pass (or occasionally pass someone myself) - Not a lot of rewards: no medal or goodies. There were no mugs left when I finished, or at least I didn't see anyone handing them out
