In short: This year with extra miles, climbs and pain
In full: Barking mad, this is. The national anthem, a bagpiper and the biggest climbs and descents outside the Alps. A cheerful race director and host in Dr Rob. Add 50 per cent to your normal half marathon time, only this year there was an extra bit so it was 16 miles - an ultra half so close to double your normal half mara time. But plenty of good running terrain between the huge ups and downs. Great fun, great supportive atmosphere, trashes your legs for a week afterwards. Oh, and a huge medal. Organization like clockwork. Top event.

In short: Epic run, thoroughly recommended. Not to be missed
In full: This was truly enjoyable. Its a tough route, but very well organised and very enjoyable if you pace yourself. Dr Rob organised a guided run through of the course about 2 weeks before, for anyone wanting to do this - this is a really good idea, very helpful to get some familiarity with the terrain.
Run the slopes, walk the steps. There are a lot of steps in a couple of places.

The feeling of running down that final long grassy slope to the finish makes it all worthwhile.
I am looking forward to next year!

In short: As tough as ever
In full: It never gets any easier yet I keep coming back. 3rd year in a row, 3 mins off the PB, and the first year I've had to wade across the stepping stones. To those runners who did it for the first time - the ground is normally a lot dryer and less slippery underfoot so don't let that put you off trying again.

In short: Enjoyable madness
In full: A mental and physical challenge. On the physical side the slippery steps and stepping stones under water added an extra frisson. On the mental side, delirium was setting in near the end as I ploughed on past a clear "No" on the floor unable to comprehend what it was saying to me. An excellent race, brilliantly organised. I am however (2 weeks later) still recovering from it even despite the sports massage a couple of days after the race.

In short: Once again Dr. Rob et al put on a top event
In full: The midsummer munro is no exception to the Trionium series. A tough race in beautiful surroundings, well run, friendly and leaves you with a sense of achievement and burning thighs for weeks after.

In short: flawless organisation, super friendly, great experience
In full: One of the hardest races in the UK yet the friendliest I've done. Wonderfully friendly atmosphere for this really hard hilly half. Constant support from the friendliest marshals even seen in a race, the few but all hyper-supportive spectators and even other runners create a such heart warming atmosphere that the event becomes unforgettable. Support indeed helped tackle brutal slopes and vertical flights of stairs.

Perfect organisation by the much-loved Dr Rob (and he deserves the love).

Absolutely delicious cakes by Liz at the finish. Excellent goodie bag (no crap samples like other races - we're talking a fine mug and a very fine technical t-shirt here). Value blows away the more commercial races.

Thanks again Dr Rob!

In short: Every year the same 'never again' so here's looking forward to 2012. Ace organisation, marshaling, atmosphere and warm glow once it's all over. Again many thanks Dr Rob.
