In short: Very well organised event but beware those hills! In full: The Rotary Club provide so many marshals here, it's hard not to feel loved. Some really lovely scenery too, from the River Wey Navigation (canal) to the North Downs Way.
All very nice, and a cool t-shirt too.
The hills and sand were hard-going, but if you like hills you love this event :-) Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Thoroughly enjoyable In full: Superby marshalls - so many of them and so friendly and encouraging. Stunning scenery made even better by the perfect conditions. Lump in the throat enducing cheers from the crowd in the final half mile. Hard to top. Thanks for a great race. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: One of the harder half marathons but one of the best - a great event In full: 3rd year of doing this fabulous event and once again the weather was glorious ive yet to do this in pouring rain but it wouldnt matter its still a great x country race. Personally it wasnt a good race for me 10 mins slower than last year but still an enjoyable run through every terrain going - puttenham hill climb on sand is quite ticklish but generally not too hilly ok for a first time half as i found out 2 years previous. Cheery marshalling everywhere even the kids do a grand job lots of encouragement and smiles and lots of water stations some with food and gels too brilliant if you need it. Once again well organised everything you require before and after i will definately return for a 4th year the only tiny gripe is the medal it used to be terribly unique a real gem - this year a bit plain. The t shirt does make up for this. Nonetheless well done to everyone involved a great must do race. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Brilliant scenery and organisation In full: I did the half marathon but can only presume the review would apply to the full too. The course was beautiful - narrow single file tracks through woods in places but the description and RD's briefing warns this. Organisation is exceptional - the course is marked everywhere, it would be impossible to go wrong unless you ignore the signs. There are marshals everywhere - they pop up in the most unexpected places and were, without exception friendly and supportive. Its a hard course but only to be expected on the North Downs. One of the best I have done. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Challenging all the way! In full: Very well organised and interesting race; rarely flat at all but no horrendous hills. Multitude of tricky surfaces and very narrow in parts with lots of stiles too. Only minor gripe for me was no mile markers but plentiful water (and food!)stations more than made up for that. In short: Superb event from start to finish In full: Thank you to all the organisers and marshals- a supreme demo of how to run a race- fab food and drink at very frequent aid stations and such enthusiasm and encouragement too! Lovely route- very pretty- nice soft sand in places- enchanting forest tracks and some glorious views. Shame there were no small or extra small T Shirts- yet another one that I cannot wear---- Top race- fast or slow, experienced or novice, this is one to enter! Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Challanging! In full: Certainly not one for a PB! , great course very friendly and well run. Hills, sand and then then St Martha's hill! the flat and the downhills are a welcome rest if that's possible on a marathon. If you want a challenge run this you won't be disappointed. Thanks organisers and marshals
In short: FANTASTIC MARSHALLS AND ORGANIZATION. THANK YOU!! In full: Lovely friendly run. I will be doing this run again next year. The hills were okay, running on the sand and soft track was great my dodgy old knees feel fine today. Also my first marathon without a blister or discoloured toenail. Great day see you next year.
