In short: the race has improved but... In full: great new course, start/finish far better. however one small criticism. the goodie bag was full of leaflets thats not going to help you recover after a hard race.there was one miniture chew bar and that was it! its not a cheap charity 10k but surely a recovery drink or bannana at the end wouldn't be too much to ask? another good idea would be to save on postage and not send the t shirts in the post.
great race overall and improving every year Date of review: September 12, 2010
In full: Better finish location and overall course than last year, hope that continues for the future. Organisation not good at the end, didn't know where to get water especially as i was thirsty! Overall not bad but could do better! Date of review: September 29, 2009
In short: Much improved on last year In full: Overall I thought this was a good race. The price is slightly steep although the route, medal and t-shirt were much improved on last year so at least have something to show for it. Could do with expected finish time markers at the start to improve the congestion or move the start to somewhere wider. The atmosphere at the finish on Westgage Street was brilliant. In short: organization could have been better. In full: did'nt enjoy this as much as last years race, too conjested at the start meant i had to stop running twice in the first 2K, woefully inadequate toilet facilities at the start. Date of review: September 14, 2009
In full: Organisers need to recognise the narrowness of the pathes in the parks. I would recommend that the runners are separated into groups of similar ability (say by anticipated race time) and that the start of these groups is staggered (by say 30 seconds) in order to allow the narrow pathes to accommodate such a mass of people, as each group would inevitably stretch out. Noone would lose out because the race times are determined by chip and not gun. Date of review: September 12, 2009
In short: A fast flat course with taking in the some nice sights of Cardiff In full: Oh dear, I have done this race before and the beginning this year was awful! Far too narrow and no organisation at the start. There should have been time markers so people knew where to stand. There were pacers but they were hard to see as they didn't have anything to hold. The first km was awful as it was impossible to get past anyone and lots or runners including myself went of the track on the grass to try and get past and pick up some speed. Once that was out of the way the run was great, lovley scenery and lots of people out to cheer you on. Nice finish on westage street this year and no nasty cobbles to run on. In full: Overall I enjoyed this race, good route, however there were parts which werer too small to accomodate all the runners. Especially at the beginning, the paths were very narrow so I couldn't start off at a good speed. Also I think the start was a little unorganised, there were a mixture of racers and spectators on the road, I don't think it was quite clear enough. I did enjoy this race though, good flat course and a good variety of different scenery to look at as you are running along!! Everyone was in high spirits. I'd recommend it.
