In short: The weather saved the day but a pretty dull race.
In full: There was a lot of negative talk before the race and getting race numbers 2 days before kick off and the drinks in cups justified the comments.
The 28 pounds entry fee didn't give a lot of value for money. I can't speak for everyone but water in cups gets more down my front than in my mouth and I don't want to have to stop to take fluids in. There were 2 bottled water stops at approx 10 and 23 miles but by then it was too late to refuel. There was an offer of Lucozade (in cups) but it was the fizzy orange type you took to hospital 20 years ago.
Overall, not very impressed and it all seemed to be have been done on a tight budget, maybe intentionally. Sorry to be negative for all the people who had a great day.

In short: well put together event
In full: all good: traffic free, lots of marshals - who were friendly and supportive, plenty of support in the town, plenty of drinks, peole handing out jelly babies, lots of encouragement at the end.
Big brassy medal (just right for Blackpool) and a tshirt.

Great conditions, no rain or wind and enough chill in the air to keep you moving.

In short: Just ok.
In full: This review is for the HALF marathon although some comments apply to the full. I could not see an option to review the half marathon.

The whole race is along the seafront, which while quite pretty means it is a bit boring running in a straight line all the way until you have to turn around and go back along the same road. I hated the last three miles running on the concrete and blame my poorly ankle and knee on this.

I was very disappointed with the finish. If people were running in a group they were told that they had to spread out otherwise their time wouldn't be recorded. There was no goody bag and just one bottle of water for me when I finished. When they finally cracked open the Coca-cola, they had a small boy puting it into plastic cups. Why not a can each? He was only filling the cups half way (if you were lucky) and I am pretty sure those who had just ran the marathon could have done with a little more sugar. The poor boy was being swamped at one point and asked for help from someone else but was left to it. This aspect of the race I found to be quite disgusting and it makes me wonder what the money was spent on. While I am moaning, the medal looks cheap and the t-shirt was just ok.

Blackpool has the potential to put on a real showcase of a race with a little more thought.

Oh, and it really needs to be chip-timed.

In short: Average race overall. Good organisation bu t pricey for what you get.
In full: Pre-race - ample toilets (but are there ever really enough?). Bag storage, massages and sports kit reseller all available in the hotel.

Start location - enough free street parking made arrival and departure relatively easy compared to other races this size.

PB?? Definite possibility if weather is kind like this year.

Organisation was generally above average with good marshalls and well-signed trafic-free course.

No goody bag, water on course in cups not sports bottles, no chip-timing. Not really an issue for me, but why then is this race so expensive compared to other similar ones? If it wasn't so local, I don't think I'd bother again.

In short: Excellent race, I really enjoyed it.
In full: I thoroughly enjoyed this race, much more than the Silverstone Half a few weeks ago. The organisation was good overall; not receiving my race number through the post was the only real downside for me. Maybe this race was special because I've had an injury and I felt the beginnings of my form ( and enthusiasm) coming back to me. I will definitely be coming back next year - may even go for the marathon!

In full: water in cups not the best would be better in a bottle. Running half and full together not the best would be better seperate or set the half of first. Problem with water at the end when you need it surely have that distance you should not be told 1 bottle only we are running low, get more organised would be the answer.
