In full: Fantastic atmosphere, organisation, food and wine. Really great day for runners and spectators definitely one to be done by all. Also great finish with medals and T shirts. Date of review: September 13, 2013
In full: Did this a couple of years ago & the event has deservedly grown. What a brilliant day out. Didn't run in fancy dress, but, will consider it next time!! Ran with a couple of friends from my club and we all agreed it was one of the best races we had ever done.Did have a couple of glasses of wine- more next time! Loved the finish and we had the energy to hammer it down the last mile and finish wit a 7 minute mile.Love the medal!Hog roast excellent and atmosphere 1st class. Well done to Events to Live. In short: Wine and running - together! In full: Not sure that I can add anything that hasn't already been stated here. So to keep it short and sweet; fantastic organisation, a stunning route, hills (remember, what goes up must come down - which makes for a speedy final miles) and brilliant marshals. I'd run it again for all these reasons, even without the wine! Everyone must do this once - forget about PBs, club vests, etc, and don your fancy dress, a big smile and have a leisurely run. You won't regret it. It's just a shame that the ladies t-shirts were small men's. They apparently had problems with the quality of the ladies t-shirts - if this issue is sorted out next year, this race would score 11 out of 10! Date of review: September 13, 2013
In short: Fantastic Fun event In full: I spectated last year, but realise now what I missed out on, its a fantastic well organised scenic and totally fun event. Would recommend it to all who want a challenging but no-pressure run. Fancy dress, hog roast, wine and great company added to my day. Date of review: September 12, 2013
In short: The best race in the UK In full: I said last year that this was the best race I have ever done, this year was better. We had so much fun. The whole day was a laugh from start to finish. The course is beautiful and challenging (especially if you have had a glass or two!) and its no mean feat running a hilly, half marathon anyway, so it is a tough event but if you fully partake in the spirit of the event, fancy dress, wine etc. it just makes it a pleasure to run.
The event is so well organised, and great value for money, we will definitely be back next year to defend our fancy dress title!
In short: The most fun I've ever had at a half. In full: This was our second time of running the Bacchus Half Marathon (following a stupid decision at 8:30 on Sunday morning) and what fun it was. We cobbled together fancy dress and entered when we arrived (paying a £5 surcharge for the privilege). The race has grown since we did it in 2011, and definitely for the better. The majority seemed to be in fancy dress and after a fun day out, just like us.
The long hill was challenging, to say the least, but was made up for with the splendid views and welcome wine/water/food station at the top. The long downhill made sure my last mile was my fastest, which has never happened before!
The hog roast and drink at the end is far more welcome than a goodie bag, so top marks for that. My only slight quibble is that even a small t-shirt drowns me - can you do some extra small ones for next year please?
We will definitely be back! Date of review: September 10, 2013
In short: Fantastic organisation and a great all round atmosphere In full: Very well organised. Everything worked like clockwork. There are some very steep parts to the race, but you are treated with some magnificent views. The organisers do a great job of creating and maintaining a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Not my best result, but certainly a lot of fun! Date of review: September 9, 2013
