In short: Gets better & better In full: 3rd time of running & having run it seriously, decided to enjoy the wine at the numerous stops. Fantastic organisation, incredible medal, great day out. About 12 people from my club entered the race, next year I suspect there will be twice as many. Thanks ETL. Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: You cannot have more fun than this doing a Half-Marathon !!! Can't wait for next year. In full: It was simply fab! What more can I say. PB's are not on our agenda these days, so this was to do the distance and have a lot fun - and oh my, what brilliant fun it was! I'm sure the non-fancy-dressers would have felt they were missing something - so I'm very glad we made an effort to look silly. Will definitely be back next year. Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: Fabulous Half, Fabulous Organisation, Fabulously Friendly! In full: Stunning scenery, brutal hills - it's definitely a challenge but just has to be experienced. The organisation is faultless, the people are so friendly & the whole festival is about having fun and enjoying the day. The water & feed stations blew me away, I've never seen such a selection of treats to help you on your way - let alone the wine on offer!! I was so very thankful that there were so many water stations on route, it was a hot day and I don't run well in the heat - I needed every water station to rehydrate without which I'd have crashed & burned!! Mile 12 is such a beautiful thing - down hill all the way, through the vines to the finish line. The two organisers were at the finish line to shake your hand and congratulate you on your run - so very lovely! Best medal ever too - makes my others look a little sad, and a great technical t- shirt!! Food & drink at the end is included in your entry fee too, also beautifully organised. Will probably be back next year to beat the hills - will pray for cooler temps!!! Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: WOW - How much more FUN could you possibly want? In full: My very first Bacchus and, most definitely, not my last! I have already pre-booked my B&B for next year. :-) What can I add to what has already been said so well by others, I wonder? That I had the most FUN ever in a alf-marathon? That I enjoyed all the very friendly and encouraging marshals? That I was overwhelmed by all the food/goodies at the plentiful 'drinks' stations, not forgetting the superb wine? The carnival atmosphere? The stunning scenery throughout the course? The excellent BBQ laid out for us, meat-eaters as well as vegetarians? The superb technical t-shirt and well-designed medal? You name it - this (ETL) event has got it! And, unless you do it you will never know what you have missed! Thank you, ETL, and all your helpers for making the Bacchus event one of my top 'must-do-again' events.
In short: Amazing race, amazing countryside and massive fun In full: Initially I thought Bacchus was rather expensive but having completed the 2014 race I have to say it is worth every penny! The atmosphere was brilliant, the setting (both Denbies and the surrounding countryside) cannot be beaten and the organisation of the whole event was second to none. I really loved the festival atmosphere on the way around and at the end. The wine and hog roast BBQ was a fantastic touch. Loved the quality medal and tshirt as well.
Thanks to everyone involved and can't wait to come back in 2015. Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: |Fantastic race In full: This was my first half-marathon and I really enjoyed it. The organisation was great thanks to ETL and their team, plus lots of friendly volunteers giving encouragement during the run. There was a great atmosphere with lots of runners in fancy dress, live music en route and wine-tasting and treats at the 'water' stations. We were rewarded with a medal, tech T-shirt, hog roast and wine at the end. I'd thoroughly recommend this event to runners and walkers. Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: Absurd, great fun and uplifting vibe In full: This is a truly unique event. I was happy to forget about the running and the pb for once, with my usual sub-2 sacrificed for a very post 3! ;-). It was psychologically interesting to just don some fancy dress, drink the wine, spend time all the way round lightly jogging and chatting with friends. Now you can run it 'properly' but to be honest I think you probably miss out a bit if you do (this is probably a traitorous comment for runners). The organisation is bang on and the marshalling excellent and friendly. Also in addition to the medal and tech t-shirt we were treated to an amazing array of fruit at the end... and then the hog roast .. and more wine :-) Excellent fun, excellent views. Go play .. enjoy.
