In short: Excellent organisation. Going was a little softer than expected, but still a great race. Lovely cakes at the finish

In short: Great - just what off-road should be !!
In full: Excellent organisation, cheerful marshalls and lovely cakes at the end.
This is the third year I have done Bewl and for me it was the best. My slowest but am coming back from injury so just glad to be able to do it again. I loved the conditions - so much more interesting than when the ground is baked hard. Off-roads should be muddy and challenging.
Thank you very much Wadhurst Runners - see you next year.

In short: friendly, but challenging - and very well organised. a good day out in a nice part of the world, with all the facilities of a sports centre and a small village pub afterwards

In short: Caketastic!
In full: 14 miles off road was never going to be easy but add in the recent weather and this was harder than the majority of winter cross country races.

The setting was superb, the organisation was excellent, the marshalls and helpers at the water stations great and if I'd wanted an easy race I'd have done the Harry Hawkes 8. But I'm so glad I didn't.

And how can you fault any race which has cake at the finish?

In short: Undulating circumnavigation of Bewl Water with a couple of miles of road, livened up by serious mud this year!
In full: It's supposed to be summer, but no one had told Sussex. Starting with a very slippery downhill, some 300 runners skidded around the reservoir. It's well marshalled with water, sports drink and sponges every three miles and on a better day would be good underfoot. This year the boggy conditions made trail shoes a must. Sorry to those I pushed or ran into at the start, but really there was no need to stop dead at that first puddle - you were going to get those nice new shoes christened before too long anyway! Free cakes at the end were a nice touch, but the showers were appalling with a mere dribble of water to remove the caked mud - don't send your kids to Upland Community College if they like sports!

In short: Superb! Well done Wadhurst!
In full: A wonderful race that had a great atmosphere and the damp slippy conditions made it a huge challenge but great fun! Great camaraderie going on between the runners and wonderful support from Marshalls, and a nice medal, goody bag and cakes! Brilliant!
Things to improve? For those who want to be fussy it would be an improvement if the showers were hot and had a bit more power at the sports centre!! Still the cold dribbly shower was ok got me clean and certainly didn't ruin any of the feel good factor! Thanks Wadhurst -will be back!

In short: I'm sure I'd rate it higher if it hadn't been so slippery !
In full: Hard for me to be objective as from a personal point of view,I had a shocker !

My problem was that ,apart from the blessed relief between miles 10 and 13 (the road section) I spent most of the race desperately trying not to fall over and was unable to get into any kind of consistent pace.

That had everything to do with the unseasonably heavy rainfall recently and a major misjudgement by choosing to run in Asics DS Trainers, when it seemed only Walshes would have kept me upright(if I had any).

Of course, that is entirely my fault and I shall definitely be back as in any other conditions, that course would be a "cracker".

The marshalls did a great job in difficult circumstances and those at the water stations were really efficient and encouraging-sincere thanks to you all.

The selection of cakes at the finish was amazing-I now see why they get so many mentions !

Above all,Wadhurst Runners have come up with something really different and I look forward to next year (when it will probably be 90 degrees and I'll still be complaining ! ).
