In short: Undulating my a**e , bringing my crampons for the next one. In full: First Marathon so not too sure if this could be beaten by any others,I doubt it. Overall it was fantastic, great organisation, marshalling, veiws etc. I could go on. Total satifaction on finishing. Personnally would of prefered a medal to a slate coaster but thats is just being picky on what was a fatastic race. Date of review: May 21, 2007
In short: Superb In full: I loved this race. Great support, friendly and encouraging volunteeers almost everywhere you'd want to see them, a wonderful rolling course with great views, good company, and a fabulous venue at Brathay to lounge around for the rest of the afternoon.
I really hope this marathon is run again next year, definitely in my top 3 races ever.
In short: What a superb day, thank you, Scott and the team. In full: Good organisation, lots of thoughtful touches. I really hope that this 'runs' again next year. It isn't an easy course but it is well worth the effort. Date of review: May 20, 2007
In short: Not the easiest but really great fun In full: Very well organised, beautiful situation. Some interesting hills. Lots of support. Plenty for the family to do whilst they waited for me to take 40 minutes longer than I planned. Can't really find any faults. Would recommend it without hesitation Date of review: May 20, 2007
In short: Way tougher than I thought. In full: My first marathon and a bit of a shock. Trained really hard but the unexpected warm weather and the challenging course (was there a flat bit? - I din't notice) nearly did for me. Still happy with a 4:26:37. Race was really well organised and memorable. The marshalling was fisrt rate - thanks to all concerned Date of review: May 20, 2007
In short: Why did I think I could do this ? In full: When you're coming back from a knee injury I suppose the obvious thing would be to withdraw in advance. Knee went on the sharp uphill left just before Newby Bridge and felt like someone was trying to prise off my kneecap. Retired around mile 15. That said this was a special race and the atmosphere was great and everyone at Brathay was superb - before, during and after. Anonymous thanks go to the lovely woman who stopped to offer painkillers and words of encouragement at mile 14. Saw a lot of people I'd been running in and around finish which makes me happier. Thanks anyway all concerned. Date of review: May 20, 2007
In short: Scenic, ups and downs, challenging but fun! In full: 4.40.21 happy enough with that as course was tougher than i expected, was glad of ipod from mile 16 when knee started hurting a bit and all the words of encouragement from spectators and fellow runners were welcome, well done to the Freemasons marshalling and for the prizes
Goody bag was a bit sparse but don't let this minor criticism detract from a superbly organised event, hope it is revived so get a chance to beat the time once a few more maras under my belt! Date of review: May 20, 2007
