In short: Wow what a great race In full: Thi is close to summer and can be very warm - like this year, but a very well organised, friendly race, great to run and plenty of water, supportive marshals and a nice goody bag and free for goodness shake at the end. Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Beautiful marathon, glorious sunshine, oh the heat! In full: A wonderful day, the challenge of course being the heat. My first time competing in this marathon, it lives up to it's favourable reputation in every way. Friendly, ample facilities (parking etc) great race hq. Marshalls and helpers all brilliant and locals very supportive (several hospepipes available, thanks to all).
The course is beautiful and the hills are a challenge but the main test today was of course the heat. Great to see so many finishers on such a hot day and not too many casualties to the heat (I hope). Seeing St. Johns in attendance en-route was very reassuring in these conditions.
Well done Halstead, a marvelous race. Will be back next year (dare I say it, hopefully it'll be colder next year! ;-) Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Beautiful place, very friendly, hats off to all the marshals. In full: Thank you Halstead, well organised and marshals did a superb job in blistering conditions. Lovely medal and t-shirt. Well done to all who raced today. Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Fantastically well organised and excellently marshalled In full: Very picturesque run - the undulating course wouldn't have been so much of a problem if it hadn't been for the heat!
Organisation was impeccable, the marshalls encouraging (as were the spectators), the sponges were much needed and everything seemed to go like clockwork. Great to have the shakes at the end. The only reason for me putting a "maybe" against doing it again is that I live 2 hours away so it meant an early start and an uncomfortable drive back home. Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: Brilliant organised and marshalled. Good support and kind locals In full: Everything is taken into account for all runners in this race.Kind locals were offering to spray runners to keep them cool, very welcoming in the oppressive heat.Loads more support than last year. Even Halstead RR can't control the weather but it's the only thing they don't do. Brilliant! Date of review: May 11, 2008
In short: A top race run by runners for runners. In full: This is a race that tries to do everything to ensure that the runner has a great race. From the excellent road signs from 5 miles out - I didn't need a map to get to the venue - ample convenient parking, bottle drop off service, friendly marshalls and water station volunteers, you can tell that it is a race organised by runners for runners. Everything is done to make things as easy as possible for the runners taking part. All you have to do is turn up and run! The post race facilities, medal (lovely), T-shirt and goody bag are also excellent. Date of review: May 11, 2008
