In short: Great Race ... You know what you're going to get! In full: This race is called the Knacker Cracker for a good reason. Even the few flat bits are tough because you are recovering from a steep up or downhill. What a great final hill... makes the 100's of steps worthwhile .... well maybe not! In short: Fantastic way to start the year. In full: Thank you to Dr Bob and all who helped organise this fantastic event. Great fun and can't think of a better way to start the year. See you all in 2010. Date of review: January 1, 2009
In short: I ache in new places but an excellent friendly race to start 2009 In full: Very hilly, so steep in places that I thought the steps were going to turn into a scamble and some rock climbing! But, great event, very nice organisation by Rob and family, thanks to all the marshalls. Fancy dress was fun and I could not think of a better way to start the new year Date of review: January 1, 2009
In short: What a lovely race In full: This is obviously a real labour of love for the organiser, and it pays off. The atmosphere is great- I've never seen such a friendly, cheerful bunch of runners Some real effort with the fancy dress too! And the course is pretty good too- if you like hills... but all that uphill effort is rewarded with a great downhill run to the finish. Date of review: January 1, 2009
In short: The only way to start the year! In full: If you are thinking about doing this run then go for it! You will hurt but it is definitely worth it. The organisation is perfect (a special thanks to all for such a great job). The scenery is fantastic - when you feel up to looking. And when you finish you get all sorts of goodies - most importantly a carrot which you can have with your New Years Day dinner!
Then there are the great costumes! I was chased up and down a hill by an attractive nun today - how often does that happen? This is definitely a very special race and I will be back next year and may even consider some fancy dress myself. Date of review: January 1, 2009
In short: As good (and as mad) as ever... Dr Rob rules! In full: I love this race!
It is good that we humans forget pain, or there would be a tiny crowd for the Knackercracker. As it happens, it has been great to return to the New Year insanity that is the Knackercracker, and lots of costumed people clearly agree. It was a good day for it, and the race was organised with Dr Rob's usual brilliance. Well done to the speedy winners, and to Masai Warrior and Bathing Woman for their winning costumes. Thanks to all the great marshalls - the cowbells were an excellent addition this year - and thanks to Mrs Dr Rob and family for the end of race soup and rolls. I've already forgotten the agony of the climbs and the steps, so am ready to sign up for 2010!! Bring it on! Date of review: January 1, 2009
