In short: Icing on my Year of running cake! In full: Only been running a year & with only 1 marathon under my belt (being London!) then a Pb should have been on the cards. Oh yes, it was a warm Sunday for October (the sun tanned shoulders prove it!) but with some wonderful crowd atmosphere & training with my Club that had gone very well that Pb was gonna get blitzed. 38 mins off at the end & it was worth every mile! Would I go back again....you bet! Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Not for the inexperienced In full: On the whole the run was a good one, but for more established marathon runners only. This was my 2nd and did not compare with the Greater Manchester Marathon. The route was too rural for my liking and therefore, as a slower runner, quite demoralising. Some locals did come out and support but nothing like the scale which they did in Manchester were people were handing out all sorts of goodies and community support. There was no-one handing anything out on Sunday apart from the official water stations. The course had too much uphill for me too. Well done on the organising but definitely wouldn't consider this one again. Sorry. Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Great value and always look forward to it In full: This was one of 10 marathons I've ran this year and the most enjoyable. Great parking facilities, friendly marshalls, great shirt & goody bag, generous prizes, track to start & finish, super support. Having the names on the running number enhanced encouragement from the well populated support. A really good event that you'd think has been running many more years than it has. I've done 10 this year, 63 in total and this is by far my favourire. I'd just ran Loch Ness the week before but prefer this to that and all the others. The build up is also great with many and concise communications received adding to the 'build up'. Medals also very good. Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Great day, great run, great organisation In full: My second marathon but not a PB for me. Probably because both knees were held together with Velcro straps! Lovely route out in to Wales and good support from all along route including the Marshall's. THANK YOU.
Nice goody bag and medal, plenty of drinks stations. All in all a fantastic weekend. Thank you Chris and Andy. Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Well organised and friendliest race there is . In full: This race lives upto its billing as No 1 UK Marathon last year . Organisers worked their socks off and deserve all the plaudits that come their way. The route was mainly flat taking in some beautiful landscape and villages whose locals turned out in force to cheer on all runners. Drinks /Gels stations worked like clockwork as volunteers manning them were on the ball and full of encouragement . Found last couple of miles a real struggle but got through it somehow to finish on that glorious Chester racetrack and welcomed with a handshake and namecheck , get in thanks Chester see you next year ! In short: incredibly well organized well run race. In full: My 1st marathon and think I picked a good 1 for my debut. I really struggled in closing stages and thought the info. in booklet about drink stations was a bit out on distances and I was expecting more sport drinks but that could have been my mistake. don't know what happend with the 24 mile marker but that threw my already haddled brain I thought my Garmin had thrown a wobbly and caused me a few problems. Minor things really though I still got home well under my 3:30 target and overall an excellent race. Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Fabulous race, brilliant job, loved it In full: I went into this race injured, painkillered-up and in a lot of pain. So it says a lot to say that I loved it despite that. Really great race, very well-organised, great goody bag and t-shirt. Loved it. Date of review: October 8, 2013
