In short: If Carlsberg did marathons ..... In full: Quite simply the best race in the UK.
Organisation way beyond top notch, from the moment you sign up to the moment you stagger off the racecourse clutching your medal, you are looked after like a VIP ... constant pre-race updates, lovely friendly volunteers and marshals at the start and on the course, a handshake and congratulations from the organisers as you cross the line (now thats dedication!) and a baggage system that even Heathrow could only dream of (another here whose bag was sat waiting for him whilst he negotiated the step up to the table!)
Even 'that' hill at 24 didn't seem too bad this time.
Guys and gals of Chester marathon take a bow! Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Excellent organisation! In full: My first marathon, and what a great experience at Chester. Interesting course with a few hills but nothing major, excellent finish area and logistics were perfect. Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Fasntastic race, excellent organisation, marshalling and support. Thoroughly enjoyed the race, even the hills towards the end!!! Great course and definately a PB course! Thank you for a great day!! Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Well done Chester In full: I can only echo what has already been said. Silky smooth, over the start line in 8 seconds from the sub 3:15 pen. A bit muddy on the racecourse for the first 800m or-so, through Chester town centre and then out onto a rural loop coming back to the racecourse. More undulating then I thought it was going to be, not maybe not the all-time fastest course out there, but definitely PB potential. Great organisation, closed roads, loads of well stocked aid stations and decent support and a nice goodie bag and long-sleeved technical T make this one of the best UK road marathons I've done.
Well done Chester, you have a gem of a marathon..l don't go changing :-) Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Great marathon for beginners or experienced runners! In full: After running this marathon last year I decided I had to run it again! Although last year was very good indeed the team have learned a few lessons and this years operation was slicker and more organised, everything seemed to be where you needed it, easy to navigate, plenty of helpers about to guide you to where you needed to be! The support from the marshals, volunteers, st johns ambulance and of course the residents of the local towns and villages was incredible. The support at the end near the finish was awesome too! After race organisation was also very slick and efficient! Only problem, the showers were FREEZING! Brrrrrrr! If you have any doubts about running this marathon, forget them, a truely exceptional event. Well done everybody!!! Date of review: October 7, 2012
In short: One word: superb In full: Excellent event: well organised, friendly marshals, great crowds, nice scenic route... apart from a few challenging hills it was the perfect day! ;-) My first marathon, and would 100% recommend it to other 'first timers'. Superb. Date of review: October 7, 2012
