In short: Fifth time at Nottingham and yet again an excellant day out! In full: Very windy in the second half of the marathon (but it always is isn't it?!), but glad there was less running up and down the rowing lake this year, a welcome change. Date of review: September 14, 2011

In short: Top event, organisation like clock-work, will definitely do again next year! In full: Ran the marathon for the 2nd year running and thoroughly enjoyed the event (apart from the last few miles of suffering before reaching the finish line). The whole day went like clock-work and I've not a single gripe. Will be back next year. Date of review: September 14, 2011

In short: A half with the atmopsphere of a big city marathon! In full: What a great event, two years ago I ran this as my first ever half marathon and I was scared. Now, two years on I tackled it with much more confidence, knocked 10 minutes off my course PB and loved the atmosphere, although didn't remember it being quite so hilly! Running many smaller club runs it's nice to do something on the scale at least once a year. The runners never seem to thin, you always have someone nearby to keep you motivated and the water stations were very friendly especially the american footballers who spotted my name on my shirt and hollered after me for ages (very uplifting!). I will be back, maybe another 2 years and see if I can knock off another 10 minutes! Not likely but good to aim for something. Date of review: September 14, 2011

In short: Consistantly Great In full: As far as a half marathon goes, only the GNR beats it for atmosphere. I always enjoy this race. The route is varied and has some lovely trail/park sections. There are a few cheeky climbs and the support is always brilliant. Good supply of refreshments all the way round. It's a big race so that probably explains the cost as it certainly isn't cheap to enter but I always feel that it's money well spent. I struggled with the finish this year, but hopefully it'll be back to normal next year when all the work has been completed. Thanks Nottingham!

In short: Other race organisers - learn from nottingham In full: Watch-word of the day on Sunday was 'windy' - Holme pierpont and the route back to the river were more than challenging this year as you were generally running against the wind. I've been to Nottingham 5 years in a row and I don't understand how other marathons and halves get it so wrong! Plenty of signage, toilets, clear announcements and everything ran smoothly! Stewards were friendly - most of them on the 2nd half of the course must have been freezing sat out for 2-3-4 hours but they still yelled and screamed encouragement at you - they made the event for me. The only slight criticism is the maps sent out and on the website were incorrect and caused some confusion about locations of water stations etc on the altered section of the course.if you're new to running, this is the race for you it was my first race ever 5 years ago and I will keep coming back! In short: Great organisation, hilly first half flat windy second In full: Great support all the way round, clockwork organisation, loads of drinks and gels helped a lot well done lucozade, wel worth doing this race. Minor jiggles; can we have a more sheltered last 5 miles- it was blowing a hooly in our faces ! Watch distance was 26.45 miles, much as I like freebies I could do withouth the last .35, others had the same comment, t shirt could be more interesting and worth buying on the day- loads cheaper. Well done Nottingham sweatshop, experian and others Date of review: September 13, 2011

In short: One of the best half marathons around In full: This isn't the cheapest event around but all of the things that are provided on the day all have a cost so overall it is value for money!
The course is scenic, taking in most of the best bits of Nottingham, and is well supported most of way around. The drinks stations were well provided with water and sports drinks, both in bottles which made them much easier to drink and carry with you which was good as it turned out to be a warm day, if rather windy.
The finish was well organised with an excellent medal although I'm not sure the goody bag is worth bothering with as it only really contained a bag of crisps and a Mars bar!
Overall, an excellent race and one to be recommended!! Date of review: September 13, 2011

In short: Good City Centre race, great atmosphere In full: 2nd year of this race. The HM course is challenging with some steep inclines if you're from East Anglia! The scenery was changing from urban to park and woodland which was nice. Can be crowded as you have everyone in the first half, but it did thin out a bit towards the end.
Good Local Support and an excellent vibe in the race viallge. Didn't like the metal tracks to negotiate coming back into the park/finsh area, but otherwise a great day. Not the cheapest HM, but well organised, Water is plentiful and abundant- Edinburgh could learn a lot from this model of multi races on the same course. Will definitely be back to have another go or maybe try the full marathon. Date of review: September 12, 2011

In short: Didn't get my number until the day, but Jack was vey helpful via email In full: There was nothing wrong with the race at all I just think I really prefer trail runs. Well done and thank you to all the organiser and marshalls. Date of review: September 12, 2011
