In short: Hilly, but great atmosphere In full: The race was very friendly and there was great support from marshalls and spectators throughout. Once under-way, organisation was excellent and results available almost immediately. Other races please copy!
Just a few very minor niggles in the pre-race organisation: It would be nice to have the numbers signed outside the baggage tent, so you know which queue to join, rather than finding you're at the wrong end of the tent once you get in. Calling “This way please over the PA” is not entirely helpful, which way is that exactly?
But overall it was great and they arranged much better weather than last year. Will do it again. Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Misty, better then boiling In full: Last year the heat put a dampner (!) on things. I swear it was hotter than the sun. This year the organiser booked much better weather. Chilly to start, so an extra layer to discard was needed. But once moving the temperature was perfect. The mountains were more manageable and Bedlem Bottom seemed easier now I knew what to expect. Marshalls were great and the spectators were out in force again, something I had hoped for but thought they might have been put off by the weather. The finish was better planned. The organisers had obviously taken on the comments from last year. Just poke an energy drink in there somewhere for next year and it will be better still. Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Made my day! In full: The organisation was exemplary, volunteers and crowds brilliant! My first half marathon in my home town and felt privileged to be part of the event. Signed up to this as early as March and raring to do it again! Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Excellent atmosphere & organisation..... V pretty but v hilly run..... In full: Can't fault the excellent organisation & friendliness of other runners, spectators and marshalls.... Lovely scenery although personally I found the hills a bit of a challenge, no PB for me but still a respectable time! Amazingly speedy publication of chip time results was much appreciated too (almost as soon as we finished!).... Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: A really great challenging race. In full: This one is a big of a challenge thanks to its hilly course, but with a bit of preparation it is definitely worthwhile. The event was really well organised and looked after runners really well with warmth blankets at the finish, banana's, flapjacks and all of the water you could need which I guess is what you pay for.
All in all it is nice to have a race with this scenery and the challenges in the calendar. Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Well worth at least one attempt In full: Great organisation, clearer road sign posting needed, first sign was right on turn off almost missed it..... Challenging hills not for faint hearted or those that like a flat course.... Plenty of water smaller bottles would be better than the 500ml bottles especially as they had the sport tops, ok medal... Fab tech tshirt and great finishers pack.... Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: What an atmosphere In full: The race was well organised and all helpers were engaging and friendly. Challenging course, but the hills were in the best part of the race. Nice t-shirt and medal, along with plenty of water and nutrition. What made the race was the people on route, great cheering, lots of sweets and the kids high fives made this one of my favourite feel good races. Well done to all involved, will be back just to see the crowds. Date of review: October 7, 2012

In short: Basingstoke Half a challenge of alpine proportions - but fun !!! In full: Great race, weather was kinder to us all this year. The hills which include Bedlam Bottom are mildy undulating to say the least, but nothing too hard. Great organisation and well organised and excellently marshalled - WELL DONE. In short: Fab but foggy In full: My first ever 1/2 marathon and with the hills wasn't hoping for much... But perfect weather, a lovely atmosphere from crowds and runners alike pushed me round to a great time! Great organisation..... Well done to all involved pulling it together!
